Anna faintly awoke. She saw her lover standing by the window, looking out at the bright sunlight.
She tiptoed over and pressed gently against his back. "What's wrong? Did you notice the sunlight fading again?"
"No, look at the sea over there. We've arrived in the East Sea."
Resting her head on Charles's shoulder, Anna followed his pointing finger. She saw an extraordinary scene on the ocean's surface: deep green seawater and dark brown seawater lay side by side, mysteriously unblended. The waters, which should have merged, instead remained placidly in their own territories like two separate fields.
"How amazing. Even the water in the East Sea is different from everywhere else."
"I read online that this usually only happens when the water densities are different, like where fresh water from a river mouth collides with seawater."
"So the salt content in the East Sea must be either much higher or much lower than in other seas."
