"It's a good day, isn't it?" Ren said as he pulled the curtains aside, revealing the floor-to-ceiling glass window.
Outside, rain poured relentlessly. Thick clouds swallowed the sky, and thunder rolled like an angry drumbeat in the distance. A flash of lightning split the darkness, briefly illuminating the room—and Ren's ridiculous smile along with it.
"It's raining," Leonel said flatly, staring at Ren like he had just lost his mind.
"I feel like today is going to be a good day," Ren replied, completely unfazed.
Almost on cue, thunder crashed again.
Leonel stared at him in disbelief before letting out a laugh. "You look like an idiot."
They were currently inside Ren's unit, waiting for the maintenance to finish so they could log back into COVENANT and participate in the Halloween Event. The room smelled faintly of freshly brewed coffee and warm bread—evidence of Ren's parents bustling around earlier that morning.
