Ever since they got into Ren's car, neither of them spoke.
The city moved past them in a blur of early morning light and half-awake streets. The hum of the engine and the soft click of the turn signal were the only sounds filling the space between them.
Evie sat upright in the passenger seat, hands folded neatly on her lap, fingers twisting against each other whenever her thoughts grew too loud.
After a few minutes, Ren broke the silence.
"There are available units in Diamond Palace," he said, eyes fixed on the road. "Leonel and I are staying there. You should consider moving in too."
Evie kept her gaze on the passing buildings outside the window. "It's too expensive."
"I'll pay for it," Ren replied without hesitation. "Choose any unit you want."
Evie frowned slightly, though her face remained calm. "I can pay for it," she said quietly. "It's just… not worth it. There are cheaper options."
