ANNA POV
"Anna..."
Tom's voice was low, almost a murmur.
Then his lips curved into a smile.
"Hey! What are you doing here?"
He started walking toward her.
Anna's heart instantly skipped a beat.
"I... ah... I am..." she stuttered.
The words refused to come out properly.
Instead, she forced a smile.
A nervous one.
Tom stopped in front of her.
For a moment, he simply looked at her.
"Long time no see," he said.
Out of habit, he lifted his hand, intending to mess up her hair.
But Anna immediately stepped back.
Tom paused.
His hand froze in midair.
Then realization flashed across his face.
"Oh."
A small smile appeared on his lips.
"I almost forgot."
He lowered his hand.
"You don't like that."
Anna bit her lower lip.
The guilt she had been carrying for weeks suddenly resurfaced.
"By the way..." she mumbled softly.
Tom tilted his head.
"Hm?"
Anna lowered her gaze.
"I'm sorry about that day."
"What?" Tom asked dramatically.
He leaned closer.
"You're too small. I didn't hear you."
Anna immediately frowned.
"I said I'm sorry."
This time she looked directly at him.
Tom stared at her for a second.
Then he smiled.
A genuine smile.
The kind that made Anna's chest tighten for no reason.
Suddenly, Tom leaned forward.
Closer.
Too close.
His gaze became curious as he studied her face.
"What are you doing here?" he asked softly.
Anna's eyes widened.
For a second, she forgot how to breathe.
His face was only inches away.
She could see every detail.
The sharpness of his jaw.
The warmth in his eyes.
The faint scent of his cologne.
Her heartbeat became uncontrollable.
Thump.
Thump.
Thump.
She slowly took a step backward.
"L-Lolo..." she stuttered, scratching her head nervously. "He offered me a job."
Tom immediately straightened.
"A job?"
"Yeah."
His eyebrows lifted.
"Which department?"
Then a mischievous grin appeared.
"Don't tell me you're a sexytary."
Anna's eyes narrowed.
"Blah, blah, blah."
Tom laughed.
"I am a clinical nurse," Anna said proudly.
"Ohhh."
Tom nodded dramatically.
"A company nurse."
Anna smiled.
"Yeah. You're right."
"A company nurse," she repeated.
Tom looked genuinely pleased.
"Wow."
His smile widened.
"That's good to hear."
Then he folded his arms.
"So, where are you going now?"
"Home," Anna answered.
Tom immediately shook his head.
"Nope."
Anna blinked.
"Huh?"
"Come with me."
He pointed toward the elevator.
"I'm sure my mother would love to see you again."
"No..." Anna replied quickly.
"I... uh..."
She was already preparing another excuse.
"Tsk."
Tom clicked his tongue.
"Come on."
Before she could protest again, Tom grabbed her wrist and started pulling her along.
"Tom!"
Anna stumbled forward.
"Wait!"
But Tom simply ignored her complaints.
Anna tried to pull away, but it was impossible.
Tom's grip wasn't painful—
Just firm.
And annoyingly impossible to escape.
He was much stronger than her.
Tom stood at six-foot-two, broad-shouldered and athletic.
Anna, on the other hand, barely reached five feet.
Petite.
Tiny compared to him.
She looked like she could fit behind his shadow.
And unfortunately for her—Tom knew it.
"Tom!" she complained again.
"Stop dragging me!"
"No."
"Why?!"
"Because you'll run away."
"I won't!"
Tom glanced at her.
The look on his face clearly said:
I don't believe you.
Anna groaned dramatically.
Meanwhile, Tom simply smiled to himself as he continued pulling her toward his mother's coffee shop.
At the coffee shop
They sat down on the corner, the 90's music played, the aroma of the coffee was intoxicating for her, she inhaled and slowly closed her eyes.
Anna is a coffee lover.
Tom went to the counter and made an order for them.
After a minute he came back.
" my mother went to her friend, she's not in here" he explained
Minutes later, Mildred came and Anna saw her, Mildred gave her a sign to keep quiet And so she leisurely walked toward behind Tom, she suddenly covered his eyes.
"Hey!" Tom shockingly said, he held Mildred's hand, he knows his girlfriend's scent. " Babe" he chuckled
Mildred removed her hands from Tom's eyes, and she giggled
Tom turned around and suddenly hug her
"Oh my God!! Babe!" He missed her
And they kissed
" I miss you too" Mildred replied
"How did you know that I was here," Tom asked
"Well I saw you both," she said
And They both looked at Anna, she seemed so excited for them.
" Anna!" Mildred greeted her" how are you?" She asked "it's been a long time"
" I am fine, thank you, how about you?"
"Great, "she replied " it's good to see you again"
Mildred sat next to her and Tom stood behind his girlfriend while holding their hands
Anna felt shy but she felt kilig seeing them
" you should both married as soon as possible " she advised " You too belong to each other" she continued
Tom messy her hair
"You always said that," he noticed " don't worry we will," he said and he slowly flick Anna's nose
"Hey!" Anna said while holding her nose
Mildred laughed " you're coming on our wedding day right? "
"I'd love to" Anna responded
"Oh, What do you want? Tom asked her girlfriend
" anything Babe!" She replied " wait I'll tell them" he left
"Tell me," Mildred said to Anna " what are you doing here?" She wondered
"Lolo offered me a job," she explained
"Really! he did? She said
Anna nodded
" that's unusual for him, he never does that to anyone," she said
Anna nodded, she remembered the agreement that made by her grandfather and Chairman Yang, she felt guilty and antagonist to them
Tom came and sat beside his girlfriend
"Have you heard that Lolo gave her a job"
Tom nodded "Yeah! I heard from her" Tom pointed to Anna " She told me before we came here"
He explained
"Really?" Mildred said, and she felt jealous of Anna
Anna looked at them
"I ugh!!! " she interrupted them " I need to go" She stood up
"What about your drinks, I think you need to wait for that"
"No need" she replied "my friend is waiting for me, he's already there" she lied
" he's a friend?" Tom asked
"Yes" she nodded and smiled at them
"Alright then take care" he waved
"Bye Anna," Mildred said
Anna walked away, and Tom and Mildred left on the table.
"What?" He noticed that his girlfriend kept looking at him and he smiled at her
" I think she's becoming Lolo's favorite," she said
"What?" He wondered
" you know it's unusual for him to do that, he is not like that...to anyone else" she explained " I am thinking that maybe he's planning something else " She added
"And what is that?" He interested
" that is why he's looking for her,... two years ago, because he wanted you to marry her"
"What? ... what are you talking about?" He said
"I have a gut feeling Tom" she explained " he doesn't like me, He chose Anna for you because she is the granddaughter of his best friend "
"Stop it, that's not a joke Babe," he said
"What? It's my instinct " she replied
"But that's not gonna happen, babe"
"And it seemed you two are close already, " Mildred noticed
"Not totally close, she's like a little sister to me"
"And I was like a little sister to you first Tom"
Mildred raised her voice with intense
"You're jealous," he said in a low monotone
" I was gone for only a few weeks"
"Hey stop it" Tom interrupted her "There's nothing on between us, you don't need to feel like that....and you're thinking too much babe " Tom smirked
" you didn't do that to anyone"
"What I did, I've done nothing wrong " he explained
"Oh my goodness Tom I know you " She replied "messing her hair, flicking her nose " She continued
Tom shook his head and disagreed with her, " It doesn't mean that I like her " he commented
Mildred sighed " For now of course" she crossed her arms on her chest
they both remained silent
Tom stomped walking out in the coffee shop and went back to the company.
