Winter only made it a few steps toward the bathroom before she collapsed. She steadied herself on the wall and rolled up her pant leg to find blood gushing from her knee. Hearing footsteps, Winter looked up from her bloodied leg and stared into deep, wine red eyes. Sam barely glanced over her and scoffed before continuing to walk down the hall. Winter glared at his back as he rounded the corner, "What a jerk." She jumped as a tower of a boy managed to soundlessly sneak up behind her. The eyes that met hers this time were a blue so dark they rivaled an angry ocean, inky black waves brushing against his forehead. His stare pierced through her, "Winter huh. Name's Jax Ryan, class eight." He looked at her with an emotion she couldn't place. Was it admiration? Amusement? "Might wanna get that checked out." Winter smiled slightly, "It will be totally healed in five minutes." Jax furrowed his brows, "Are you dumb? There's no way a wound like that could heal that quick." Winter shrugged, "I have incredibly thick skin." He rolled his eyes, "Come on I'll help you." When she didn't move, he huffed, "Suit yourself." He turned to walk away before Winter grabbed his arm, "Don't tell my friends you saw me." She made another attempt to stand on her own before she fell. "You really should just admit that you need my help," Jax crossed his arms leaning on the wall as he watched her with a sly smirk. Winter scowled, "I don't." "Sure Sparky. Hurry up and get on my back." She glowered at him and Jax sighed, long and hard before picking her up, "I can't leave you like this. What would I be if I left a damsel in distress?" He hoisted her up on his back, "So what do you think?" "About?" He tugged absently on the bracelet around his wrist, "About this place, these people." She shut her eyes, "What is there to know? It's filled to the brim with unnecessary luxury and privileged brats." He chuckled, "That's barely the tip of the iceberg." Winter stared ahead, "What's the iceberg then?" Jax shook his head, "Don't worry you'll crash into it soon."
When they arrived, they were welcomed by an empty clinic. "Seems like she's out right now," Jax set Winter down gently on the bed, "allow me." "What do you know about first aid?" "Funny you'd ask," Jax scrambled around the nurse's office grabbing supplies, "A friend got injured during gym last week and I tended his wounds as careful as his own mother would've. Boom a few days later and he was good as new." Winter laughed softly, "And who taught you how?" Jax shrugged, "As a kid I was always getting hurt and my nanny would patch me up. But she quickly tired of it and decided to teach me how to mend my own injuries." Winter smiled, "You're a klutz then." Jax rolled his eyes, handing her a glass of water, "Watch it, I've got your life in my hands right now." He grabbed her wrist, turning it over in his hand, "You collapsed due to dehydration, fatigue, and a twisted ankle." "Don't forget the gash on my leg." Jax smirked and crouched down to get a better look at her knee. He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, "It's completely healed." Winter pulled down the leg of her gym pants, "I told you I have thick skin." He looked up at her before moving his hand to the foot she twisted and rotated it slowly. Winter kicked him off and shook her foot, "Thank you for your help, but like I said it wasn't necessary." She studied him curiously as he stared at his hands, "How long have you been going here?" Jax's focus remained on his hands, "Since it opened." "And how long ago was that?" He mumbled, "I was five."
