Sloane POV
Before we could say more, a prominent board member interrupted us. Harriet slipped a business card into my hand. "Call me," she commanded, then disappeared into the crowd.
A few minutes later, a boring speech started near the main podium. I stood near a side table, feeling restless. To pass the time, I picked up a printed event program and flipped to the donor page. My eyes ran down the list of company names until I completely froze.
Aldenmere Holdings.
It was listed as a third-tier donor. I kept my face totally blank, but my mind started racing. I remembered that exact name from the secret subsidiary files. It was buried deep, two levels below the corporate structure Caelan's team had been auditing.
"Finding anything interesting?"
I didn't jump, but my pulse spiked as Caelan appeared right behind my shoulder. His breath brushed my ear.
"Just looking at the layout," I said, closing the program calmly.
