SLOANE POV
Nadine arrived a few days later, on Saturday morning and she was finally back to collect the rest of her things.
Isolde had arranged for Nadine to move into our home in the first place, so of course, Isolde was furious about the sudden departure.
I found out Nadine was coming through Mrs. Albright the evening before. The housekeeper had delivered the news in her usual, carefully neutral voice.
"Ms. Voss will be returning tomorrow morning to collect her belongings, Mrs. Maddox," she had said, pausing by the study door. "I thought you should know in advance."
I thanked her, filed the information away, and prepared myself. I was not going to show a single stitch of emotion in front of anyone.
