Chapter 17 - Chapter 15: Come Back To Me

Keifer POV

The doctor had just left Jay's room.

"She cannot be moved for the next twenty-four hours."

Those words kept replaying inside my head.

The private island would have to wait.

For now...

Jay was staying at Watson Hospital.

My hospital.

The safest place I knew.

I looked through the glass window.

She was still asleep.

Still unconscious.

Still not awake.

My chest tightened.

I hated seeing her like this.

Then I pulled out my phone.

"Percy."

He arrived quickly.

For once there was no teasing.

No smirk.

No dramatic entrance.

Just concern.

Real concern.

I looked at him.

"Don't let Jay out of your sight."

Percy nodded.

"I know."

"If she wakes up, tell her I'll be back."

Percy crossed his arms.

"I can take care of my baby sistah too."

A small smile appeared on my face.

Then Percy looked at me carefully.

"Where are you going?"

"I need to clear something."

Percy sighed.

Then he patted my shoulder.

"Just come back."

I nodded.

"For her."

Angelo POV

The door opened.

I looked up.

"Keifer?"

He walked inside my office.

His expression was cold.

Tired.

Determined.

"The doctor said Jay can't be moved."

I nodded.

"Good."

Then I handed him a file.

"We found something."

Keifer immediately looked at me.

"What?"

I took a deep breath.

"The trail leads back to Kaizer."

The room became silent.

Keifer closed his eyes.

Then he laughed once.

A bitter laugh.

"I knew it."

"But I don't think he's acting alone," I said.

Keifer frowned.

"What do you mean?"

I pointed toward the papers.

"Someone else is helping him."

"Someone powerful."

Before we could continue—

Edrix called.

I immediately answered.

"Edrix?"

"We found it."

Both of us stood up.

"What did you find?"

"The location."

Keifer POV

The warehouse was silent.

Too silent.

I stepped inside.

Angelo beside me.

Several security guards followed behind.

Then I saw him.

Kaizer Watson.

My father.

Standing in the middle of the warehouse.

Waiting.

Like he expected us.

For several seconds nobody spoke.

Then he smiled.

"So you found me."

I clenched my jaw.

"Why?"

His smile widened.

"Straight to business."

"Answer me."

My voice echoed through the building.

"Why Jay?"

Kaizer looked directly at me.

Then said quietly,

"Because she matters."

The answer made my blood boil.

Angelo stepped forward.

"You used an innocent girl."

Kaizer didn't look bothered.

Instead he looked at me.

"You've changed."

"No."

I shook my head.

"I finally opened my eyes."

The room became silent.

Then Kaizer laughed.

A cold laugh.

"You think this ends here?"

I froze.

"What do you mean?"

Kaizer's smile disappeared.

Then he looked directly into my eyes.

"There are many more to come, son."

The words sent a chill down my spine.

Many more?

More enemies?

More people involved?

Before I could ask—

A loud alarm echoed through the warehouse.

Everyone froze.

Then smoke started appearing from deeper inside the building.

Angelo immediately looked around.

"We need to leave."

I looked at Kaizer.

But he was already walking away.

Disappearing into the smoke.

"Kaizer!"

No answer.

Only silence.

And smoke.

Angelo grabbed my arm.

"Keifer."

I looked at him.

"Jay."

That single word was enough.

I turned around.

And left.

Aries POV

The hospital room was quiet.

Percy sat beside Jay's bed.

Pretending to scroll on his phone.

Actually watching her every second.

I sat near the window.

Waiting.

Hoping.

Then suddenly—

Jay's fingers moved.

Percy immediately stood up.

"Aries."

I looked over.

Her hand moved again.

Then slowly...

Very slowly...

Her eyes opened.

For a second she looked confused.

Lost.

Then she whispered,

"Keifer?"

Percy smiled softly.

"He's coming."

But the moment she looked toward the door and didn't find him—

Her eyes filled with tears.

The memories returned.

Everything.

The fear.

The confusion.

The helplessness.

Percy immediately moved closer.

"Hey."

Jay shook her head.

Trying not to cry.

Trying to stay strong.

Failing.

Then the door suddenly opened.

Keifer rushed inside.

The moment Jay saw him—

She broke.

Completely.

"Keifer..."

That was all she managed to say.

Tears immediately rolled down her cheeks.

Without hesitation—

Keifer crossed the room.

Sat beside her.

And pulled her into his arms.

Immediately.

Like he had been waiting hours to do it.

"It's okay."

Jay buried her face against his chest.

Still crying.

Still shaking.

Keifer gently ruffled her hair.

Again.

And again.

And again.

Like she was a little child who had been scared by a nightmare.

"I've got you."

Jay clutched his shirt tightly.

As if letting go would make him disappear.

"You don't have to be strong right now."

His voice was soft.

Gentle.

Patient.

Jay cried even harder.

Then Keifer gently brushed her messy hair away from her face.

He looked at her for a moment.

Relief filling his eyes.

Then he gently kissed her forehead.

A soft.

Protective.

Comforting kiss.

Nothing more.

Just relief.

Just love.

Just the knowledge that she was finally awake.

Percy quietly walked beside me.

Both of us watched from the corner.

Neither of us wanting to interrupt.

After a while Percy smiled.

"You know..."

I looked at him.

"What?"

Percy nodded toward Keifer.

"I've never seen him this gentle."

I looked back at them.

Jay was still holding Keifer's hand.

Keifer was still rubbing her hair.

Making sure she felt safe.

I smiled.

"Neither have I."

Percy laughed softly.

"For a long time I thought he wasn't right for her."

I nodded.

"So did I."

Then we both looked at them again.

Jay had finally stopped crying.

But she still refused to let go of his hand.

Percy smiled.

"I think he's the only one."

I laughed quietly.

"Yeah."

Because after everything they had survived...

Maybe he really was.
