Kaeren and Austin had long since left the suite, in preparation for the storm that was coming, leaving me with the loud thoughts in my head. I exhaled softly and hugged my knees to my chest, my eyes drawing circles on the sheets. Telling Kaeren everything was accompanied by a type of relief that I could not describe.
Now that he knew everything, I felt that the bond between us was stronger than ever.
"Speaking of bonds…" My thoughts drifted to Pia. Although I could feel her presence—confirming her existence—it remained faint and elusive. Kaeren had explained that the evolution process would make her inactive for a while.
As for how long, he wasn't sure. It differed for each person.
A knock came from the door at that moment. My head reflexively shot up as I said, "Who is it?"
"Miri, my lady." The familiar voice responded.
"Come in." I allowed my legs to fall back and watched as the door opened up, allowing the petite yet confident girl to step inside.
