Chapter 319: Cersi
It had been several weeks since the large gate of Bastion Seven had shut behind the returning funeral procession.
The first meeting in the cramped house had been a brutal, tearful clash of sadness and joy. Lucien Vaelmont had managed to escape the immediate, intense fury of his mother. For the weeks that followed, he had been visiting her tiny home all the time and showing her that he was breathing.
But he had always visited her alone.
It was an entirely new day. The cold wind whipped around the cobble-stone streets of the Vaelmont district. Lucien had his hands clasped behind his back as he walked. He wore a plain gray coat.
Next to him walked Nyx Vespera wearing her black Vanguard uniform.
The assassin was entirely silent. Lucien had not told his mother he was bringing a guest today. He had not sent a courier with a formal letter of introduction. He had simply asked Nyx to accompany him on a walk, and she had agreed without asking for the destination.
