**Chapter 813: Sands of Fire**
**Scene 1: Bridge of the Crimson Serpent – Tatooine Orbit**
Fleet Admiral Kobayashi gripped the railing on the bridge of the *Crimson Serpent*, the Nebula-class Star Destroyer's viewport alive with the fury of battle. Tatooine's twin suns cast a harsh golden glare across the void, illuminating the chaos unfolding below. This was no skirmish—it was the opening hammer blow of the Republic's push into Hutt space, and the Confederacy had come prepared, bolstered by desperate Hutt allies.
"The attack is underway," Kobayashi announced, voice steady. "All commands, execute."
The Republic armada surged forward in coordinated waves. Triumph-class Star Destroyers led the missile barrage, their forward torpedo tubes flashing as salvos of heavy proton torpedoes streaked toward the enemy line. The Bothan Assault Cruisers and Nebula-class vessels accelerated hard, engines burning bright as they closed on the two massive Subjugator-class heavy cruisers anchoring the CIS center.
"Enemy dreadnoughts are priority targets," Staff Admiral Piett reported from his station. "Resurgents are engaging now."
The massive Resurgent-class battlecruisers unleashed their devastating broadsides. Turbolaser fire lanced across the void, shredding Mon Cala vessels in brilliant explosions. MC75 star cruisers buckled under the onslaught, their elegant hulls crumpling as shields failed and armor vaporized. Allegiance-class battlecruisers maintained long-range fire, their heavy batteries pounding Hapan Battle Dragons. The rotating saucer ships of the Consortium spun desperately, trying to bring fresh weapon banks to bear, but the Republic's disciplined salvos overwhelmed them.
Silencer-equipped Venators fired their devastating superlaser-like cannons. Each shot tore through Providence-class carriers and dreadnoughts with surgical precision—one-shot kills that left glowing craters where bridges and reactors had been. Venators and Accumulator variants swarmed the Munificent-class frigates, their coordinated turbolaser fire and fighter screens tearing the skeletal warships apart.
Kobayashi allowed a grim smile. "Dagon's training shows. Maintain pressure. No mercy for the Hutts."
**Scene 2: Capital Ship Melee**
"Subjugators are turning to face us!" a sensor officer called. "Bothans and Nebulas, you're in range."
The *Crimson Serpent* shuddered as it absorbed return fire, but its shields held. Kobayashi watched the tactical holo as the Bothan Assault Cruisers and Nebulas poured fire into the 4.5-kilometer Malice-variant Subjugators. Torpedoes from the Triumphs hammered their flanks, while the heavier cruisers closed for broadside duels.
One Subjugator's massive ion cannon arrays fired, catching an Allegiance-class in a crippling barrage. The battlecruiser's shields flared and collapsed, but Resurgent support fire answered instantly, ripping open the Separatist giant's hull. Secondary explosions rippled along its length until the entire vessel broke apart in a silent cataclysm.
"First dreadnought down!" Piett reported. "Second one is venting atmosphere—keep hitting it!"
Hapan Battle Dragons rotated desperately under Allegiance fire, their pulse mass mines and ion cannons trying to create breathing room. One Dragon managed a lucky hit on a Marauder corvette, but Lancer frigates swarmed in, their anti-fighter weaponry repurposed to shred the larger capital ships at close range.
Venators and Accumulators tore through the Munificent screen. The skeletal frigates, once the backbone of the CIS navy, exploded in clusters as Republic gunners exploited their vulnerable broadsides.
"Silencers reporting confirmed kills on three Providences," the comm officer said. "Enemy formation is fracturing."
Kobayashi nodded. "Push the advantage. General Kota—your fighters have the green light."
**Scene 3: Starfighter Swarm**
Space around the capital ships became a deadly ballet of starfighters. T-70 X-wings screamed through the fray, proton torpedoes flashing as they targeted Vulture droids and Hapan Miy'tils. TIE Advanced and Avengers danced with superior maneuverability, their green lasers cutting down droid tri-fighters in precise bursts. TIE Silencers and Punishers added heavy firepower, missile pods unleashing devastation on clustered enemy formations. R7 and R16 Skelters provided agile escort, while Y-wings, Clone Z-95 Headhunters, and ARC-170 heavy starfighters delivered brutal torpedo runs against larger targets.
"Blue Squadron, break left—Vultures incoming!" a clone pilot shouted over comms.
"Copy, Blue Leader. ARC-170s, form on me. Let's clear a path for the Lancers!"
The Lancers—fast anti-fighter frigates—pushed through the chaos, their quad lasers and concussion missiles eliminating waves of mixed organic and droid fighters. Hutt Karabos Destroyer escorts launched their own fighters, but the Republic pilots, drilled in Dagon's aggressive doctrines, outmaneuvered them at every turn.
A Mon Cala B-wing pilot, voice steady with determination, commed his wing: "For Mon Cala! Target the Resurgent's flank!"
His heavy cannons scored hits, but a flight of TIE Defenders pounced. "Target locked. Splash one B-wing," a clone reported coolly as the Mon Cala fighter disintegrated.
Nearby, a Hapan pilot in a Miy'til cursed in her native tongue as T-70 X-wings bracketed her. "They fight like demons! Where is the Dragon?!"
A clone ARC-170 pilot laughed grimly. "The Supreme Commander sends his regards. Break and burn!"
The Republic starfighter screen dominated, covering the Lancers as they tore apart the remaining droid and organic fighters. Vulture swarms from the Golan stations dwindled under concentrated fire. Hutt and Hapan pilots fought bravely, but discipline and numbers favored the Republic.
Kobayashi watched the holo as the enemy line collapsed. "All ships—press the attack. Tatooine will be ours by nightfall."
The twin suns burned brighter as wreckage tumbled toward the desert planet below. The war for Hutt space had truly begun, and the Republic was already writing its victory in fire and steel.
