Chapter 141 - Chapter 141: The Six-Winged Angel

In no time at all, a massive gale swept across the school's sports field. The wind blew a soccer ball across the grass, sending it rolling wildly in all directions.

It was obvious that when the devil appeared, a class was right in the middle of one of their three weekly P.E. lessons. Riding the wind, Arata touched down on the field. The white bones of the Bat Devil crashed down right behind him.

Just like always, the Bat Devil's skeletal remains quickly sank into the ground. Once the corpse was completely absorbed, the number of Bat Devils inside Arata's body increased by one.

Absorbing duplicate devil corpses didn't just grant him a small amount of experience points; it also directly upgraded that specific devil's abilities. Previously, Arata could only tap into sixty percent of the Bat Devil's power. Now that he had absorbed a second one, that output jumped up to seventy percent, significantly boosting the destructive force of his ultrasonic waves.

As he continued to absorb identical devil corpses, the corresponding devil's power would keep stacking. Arata hadn't tested whether he could push past a hundred percent and reach something like two hundred percent yet. But regardless, the more corpses, the better.

"Oh right, there's still a Voyeur Devil here. Might as well take care of it while I'm at it." Arata closed his eyes.

Another gust of wind whipped up on the sports field. Guided by Arata's consciousness, the wind surged into the school building. It swept through the hallways, blew through classrooms flipping the pages of open books, and passed by the boys' and girls' restrooms.

When the wind finally reached the principal's office, Arata detected the Voyeur Devil's tracks. Wind Bind! Arata just casually made up a name for the move on the spot.

The moment he called it out, streams of wind continuously poured through the window into the office. At that very moment, the completely invisible Voyeur Devil was busy peeping at the computer monitor on the principal's desk.

The mouse cursor was hovering directly over a folder titled Gentleman's Academy. The devil didn't pay much attention to the wind swirling around it until its body started feeling incredibly uncomfortable, finally realizing something was wrong.

But before it could even react, the wind tightened like a rope, securely locking the Voyeur Devil in place. "What the hell is going on?!" the Voyeur Devil thought in confusion.

It was just one double-click away from seeing the secrets hidden inside the Gentleman's Academy folder. But now, its hands and feet were completely immobilized. The Voyeur Devil was absolutely furious about this.

As long as it successfully peeped on a human's important secrets, its power would increase. Desperate to obtain the power hidden inside that folder, the Voyeur Devil lunged forward, trying to double-click the mouse with its tongue.

But before it could even hop a few times, a man suddenly flew through the window and landed right inside the principal's office. The Voyeur Devil jumped in shock, freezing its body in place, not daring to make a single move.

After all, it was still totally invisible right now. As long as it didn't move, no one would be able to find it. But as Arata walked closer and closer, the Voyeur Devil grew increasingly terrified.

Still, it held onto a shred of hope, thinking it was just a coincidence. That is, until Arata extended his bladed claws. The Voyeur Devil immediately abandoned the delusion that the man in front of it couldn't see it.

"Spare me!"

Its plea hit the floor at the exact same time as its severed head. Bang!!! The moment its head struck the ground, the Voyeur Devil's eyes remained deadlocked on the computer folder.

It was only one step away from gaining more power, yet it died full of regret. "The Voyeur Devil feeds on secrets, and the fact that it chose to hang out in the principal's office means there has to be something highly interesting in here."

Following the dead Voyeur Devil's gaze, Arata looked over at the computer monitor. The mouse cursor was resting on a folder literally named Gentleman's Academy. The name alone made Arata burst out laughing on the spot.

He clicked the mouse and opened the folder, revealing rows upon rows of illicit photos. Not the least bit interested, Arata just hit 'Select All' and deleted the whole thing. He didn't forget to empty the recycle bin either, restoring the computer's innocent purity.

After dealing with the computer, Arata controlled his rats to draw the ritual circle and absorbed the Voyeur Devil's corpse. His invisibility duration instantly went up by ten percent. It hadn't even been half an hour since he arrived, and both devils in the school were already dealt with.

This massively boosted Dragon Team 1's devil extermination efficiency. Outside the school gates, Jackie's face was looking a bit pale, showing mild signs of anemia. But the moment he saw Arata coming back, some color instantly returned to his cheeks.

Not wanting Arata to see him looking so miserable, Jackie quickly hopped out of the car and leaned against the door, acting like everything was perfectly fine. "Jackie, you alright?" Arata walked up to check on him, telling at a single glance that Jackie's condition was pretty rough.

"I'm fine. The transformation didn't last very long just now, so my body is holding up just fine."

"Don't try to act tough in front of me, Jackie. Just let me give you a quick shot and you'll be good as new."

"Huh? What kind of shot?"

"A blood transfusion." Arata rolled up Jackie's sleeve. A tiny needle-like stinger popped out from the tip of his middle finger and pricked directly into the vein on Jackie's upper arm. "Don't move, Jackie, this will be over in a second."

Human blood that integrated into Arata's blood pool automatically converted into universal blood. Whether it was type A, B, O, or even rare Rh-negative blood, it automatically matched the recipient perfectly. If he kept absorbing more Mosquito Devils, not only would the blood pool's storage capacity increase, but the quality of the blood itself would go up too.

"Arata, what kind of ability is this?" After the injection, Jackie's mental state bounced back immediately. Aside from being grateful, he was incredibly curious about how Arata's power actually worked. As long as Arata was around, he wouldn't ever need to carry extra blood bags for his transformations again.

"It's the Corpse-Lover Devil's ability. I can give people blood transfusions."

"Then I should go make a contract with the Corpse-Lover Devil! That way I can give Jackie blood transfusions myself," Hak Foo shouted instantly.

"The Corpse-Lover Devil is an ultra-rare devil. Even if you did a hundred-pull gacha roll for it, there's no pity system guaranteed drop. I suggest you give up on that idea," Arata said, instantly crushing Hak Foo's unrealistic pipe dream with a single sentence.

"Uncle Jackie." Right then, the devil hunters from Dragon Team 1 walked over, bringing Jade along with them.

"Big brother Arata!" A second ago she looked ready to run toward Jackie, but she instantly changed targets and threw herself at Arata instead.

"Jade, stop bothering Arata." Jackie had already played this exact scenario out in his head beforehand.

"No way." Jade hugged Arata's thigh tight, glaring stubbornly at her uncle.

"Don't mind her, Arata, she acts like this all the time."

"It's no problem, kids are just like that."

"Big brother Arata, can you do me a favor?" Jade fired a pair of puppy-dog eyes straight at Arata like a laser beam. This move was a universal skill shared by all kids. Any adult with a soft spot for children would get instantly one-shot by an attack like this.

"Sure, let's hear it." Arata smiled, figuring she just wanted an autograph or something similar. But the very next thing out of her mouth caught him completely off guard.

"Can you help me find the killer who murdered my parents?"

"Killer?" Arata glanced over at Jackie. Clearly, there was a lot more to this story.

"Jade, your big brother Arata still has other business to take care of. We can talk about that later."

"I won't! I finally got to meet him! What if he just leaves right after taking care of these devils?!"

"Tell me about it, Jade. What exactly happened?" Arata asked. Right now, the best move was to hear her out just to keep her calm.

"I'll explain," Jackie stepped in. "Jade's parents were killed by a devil of unknown origin. We have absolutely zero information on it, but after Jade saw the news about your exploits, she decided to treat you as her one and only hope."

"Do you know who the killer that murdered your parents is?" Arata crouched down, his gaze softening.

Naturally, Arata wasn't going to just ignore a little girl looking to avenge her dead parents.

"I don't know, I've only ever seen it once." Jade quickly dug into her pocket and pulled out a pre-prepared piece of paper.

She unfolded the paper, revealing a drawing of a person with six wings growing out of its back. Looking at the drawing, Arata's brow furrowed tightly. He couldn't figure out who the hell this was supposed to be either. If he absolutely had to guess a name based on the sketch, it just looked like Angemon.
