ELARA'S POV.
An email was sitting on the screen.
It was the first notification that popped up as I opened the laptop with a hesitant thought, my fingers hovering over the trackpad. My thoughts were already spiraling through different scenarios.
"It could be a threat?" I thought to myself, biting my lip nervously.
I should let the police know. This would definitely stand out as cybercrime, fraud. Something at least.
What if it was the strange man at the park?
Maybe one of my enemies?
I moved a step closer and leaned my head towards my screen, my heart racing in its cage. "It's an email, it's not going to hurt if I click on it." I whispered.
Resolved, I lifted my shaky hands to click on the screen, my breath caught in my throat. I shut my eyes and squinted my left eyes open to take a peek.
"You have been selected…"
Those were the first words I read off the screen before I shone my eyes and continued reading with heightened interest, my pulse quickening.
