Quillan Cross was in the yard, fiddling with a newly acquired weapon. A servant came to report, "Second Master, Alan Cross and his mother have arrived."
Upon hearing this, a grin spread across Quillan's face. "Show them to the main hall!"
Quillan wiped the blade in his hand clean, placed it on a nearby weapon rack, and headed for the main hall.
Seeing Quillan approach, the anxiety on Alan Cross's face was immediately apparent. "Second Uncle, what do I do? Father is going to pass the position of heir to Lex Cross!"
Quillan glanced at the woman who was unhurriedly sipping her tea, then looked back at Alan. "What's all this? You burst in here so recklessly without even greeting me first."
"Alan, where are your manners! Propriety must not be neglected!"
Alan's face scrunched up. He straightened up and gave Quillan a deep, formal bow. "Second Uncle…"
