Shield River City drew its name from the river it was built around. But unlike the Jade River that flowed through Allen Bridge Castle, the water here was icy and clear, carrying the biting chill of the snowy mountains.
From a high vantage point, sparse Snow Forests and dense coniferous woods spread out below the snow-capped peaks. Riding down the winding cliffside road, one could take in the entirety of the ancient, predominantly gray-green city.
Although the central part of the White Horse Kingdom consisted mostly of plains, there were occasional high mountains like those surrounding Shield River City.
It was thanks to this natural defensibility that many of the Stormlands' important border cities and military fortresses were built in this region, mirroring the long defensive line of the Kingdom's Western Territory.
