Sidney Winters looked up at the Elixir Jasper Ashworth held out to him. A flash of surprise crossed his face, followed by a grateful glance. "Thank you!"
After taking the Elixir, Sidney Winters hurried to bring it to Clayton Winters's mouth. "Dad, hurry and take this!"
"I can do it myself." Clayton Winters reached out and took the Elixir from Sidney's hand. But just as he was about to put it in his mouth, he summoned the last of his strength and violently threw the Elixir into the distance.
The sudden turn of events stunned everyone. Even Maurice Ashworth and his two companions were frozen for a moment, unable to react in time.
"Dad! What are you doing?" Sidney Winters shouted, his voice rising sharply as he stared in the direction the Elixir had vanished.
'This was life-saving medicine. Why on earth would his own father do something like this?'
