Everyone in the living room bowed their heads, intimidated by Mr. Winters' sharp rebuke, but their eyes kept darting toward the two lifeless bodies on the floor.
Sidney Winters sat frozen in the same position as if he hadn't heard Mr. Winters at all. His silence only fueled the old man's anger, which surged in his chest.
"Sidney Winters, I'm talking to you! Did you hear me or not?" Mr. Winters impatiently snatched a nearby vase and smashed it on the floor, roaring in a low voice.
"CRASH—"
Shards from the shattered vase skittered past Sidney Winters's feet, but still, they failed to elicit a reaction from him.
Quinn Winters soothingly patted Mr. Winters's back and spoke up on Sidney's behalf. "Grandfather, please don't be angry. Sidney can't accept Second Uncle's death so suddenly. Please don't hold it against him."
