Noticing the growing glint in the man's eyes, Sylvia Blaine's heart skipped a beat. She hurriedly scooped up her coat and handbag from the sofa, gave Paul Ashworth's foot a light, indignant stomp, and bolted for the door.
'If I don't leave now, I probably won't get to leave at all.'
Sylvia Blaine's kick had seemed forceful, but to Paul Ashworth, it was nothing more than a tickle. Watching her retreating figure run for the door, a hearty laugh escaped his lips and echoed through the office.
Just as she pulled the door open and was about to step out, Sylvia Blaine heard the laughter behind her. She tossed a parting shot over her shoulder and beat a hasty retreat.
"You're sleeping in the study tonight."
'Sleep in the study?' Paul Ashworth mulled the words over before immediately dismissing them. 'Nice try!'
'Hmph, that little minx. Just wait until I get home tonight and teach her a lesson. If I don't, then I'm not Paul Ashworth.'
