He'd always believed it was impossible for Evelyn Grant to leave him; the thought had never even crossed his mind.
He'd even subconsciously assumed that no matter who else left him, it would never be Evelyn.
So even after making such a terrible mistake, Julian Sterling still believed Evelyn was just angry for the moment. He thought she would come back to him sooner or later.
But now, he was growing less and less certain...
He could sense that Evelyn was already trying to live her own life, attempting to sever all ties with him.
How could that not fill Julian with fear?
He wouldn't allow it!
He finished his cigarette.
Julian tossed the cigarette butt out the car window, took a deep breath, and pulled out his phone to call Ryan Sterling.
The other end picked up quickly.
An unspoken silence fell between the two brothers.
After a few seconds, Julian was the first to speak.
"Ryan, I'm begging you. Please. I don't want things between us to get this ugly over a woman."
