Evelyn Grant was quite perceptive.
So when Mr. Shaw's personal assistant came to deliver a file to her himself, she knew something was off.
"Assistant Wright, is the... receptionist out today?"
'This was usually a job for the young woman at the front desk!'
'Besides, even if she was out, it wouldn't fall to Mr. Shaw's assistant to do it! The firm had security guards and plenty of interns!'
"The receptionist is busy with other things. Mr. Shaw said that the cases Ms. Grant is handling are quite important, so he told me to come and lend a hand."
'The cases she was handling were important?'
Evelyn Grant quickly wracked her brain, trying to remember if any of her recent court cases or newly acquired contracts were major cases of special interest to the firm.
'Apparently...'
'...not.'
"I don't have anything that needs extra help. If you have other things to do, you don't need to go out of your way for me!"
