As if fated, the very moment Mr. York mentioned Elliot Quinn, another call suddenly appeared on the phone, displaying Elliot Quinn's number.
Ivan Gray froze, phone still in hand, but before he could react, Timothy York had already said, "Sorry, Grandpa, I need to get this."
Before the words were even out of his mouth, he hung up on Mr. York, leaving only Elliot Quinn's incoming call flashing on the screen.
The phone was on silent, so after he hung up on Mr. York, the car fell quiet once more.
An oppressive silence.
Ivan Gray had assumed Timothy York wasn't going to take Elliot Quinn's call. Just as the phone was about to stop ringing and Ivan began to pull his hand back, he saw Timothy finally raise his eyes and tap the screen.
The call connected, and Elliot Quinn's calm, composed voice came through almost immediately. "Are you at the hotel yet?"
"Almost," Timothy York replied. "Is something the matter?"
