Chapter 19 - I'll be your Karma

He lowered his head to my throat. "I can hear your heart," he murmured. "It sounds like a war drum. All for me." He pressed his mouth against my neck. "Now, Mon amour. Now."

I felt the prick of his fangs—the sharp, distinct pressure, and then the bite.

The pain was exquisite. It was as if a bright silver thread was pulled taut and snapped. But beneath it, flooding in behind it, was a pleasure so fierce it stole my breath. It was like a dark, hot wave that crashed through me, overwhelming every sense. My orgasm ripped through me as my pussy clenched around his cock. I felt him shudder before his cum coated the inner walls of my pussy. The hot pulse matched the suck of his mouth on my throat.

He drank as he came until it felt like I was weightless. I collapsed against the desk, trembling and boneless. He released my throat and licked the wound to seal it.

He pulled out slowly, and his seed dripped down my thighs. I should have felt shame, but I didn't. We had gone beyond that.

He smiled with his lips stained red. His eyes were brighter now. "Can you go again, Mea anima?"

I nodded. And that was all he needed. He fucked me until I couldn't feel my legs, and my throat hurt from all the screaming I did. Thankfully, he told me the office was soundproofed; else I would have been freaking embarrassed to meet the eyes of anyone working on the floor.

We had a bathe in the restroom in his office, and I got changed into a sundress he asked the man we met by the door to bring up.

After getting dressed, I joined him in the office. He was already working.

"What are you doing?" I asked as I walked over to him and peeked over his shoulder at the laptop.

"Catching up on my work. Jax didn't lie about piling up the work."

"Jax?" I frowned as I sat at his table. "Who's that?"

"The one we met at the door."

"Oh. So, his name is Jax." At least now that I got a name, I would stop calling him the man we met at the door. "When am I starting work?"

Even though I had gotten used to being pampered at home, the workaholic in me had been restless from the time he mentioned my post. I couldn't wait to get back to the old me before everything went crashing down.

"Tomorrow. I asked Jax to arrange an office for you. Would you like one on my floor or the 3rd floor where the last director's office was on?"

I didn't answer immediately because I needed to think it over. If I asked for one on this floor, it means I'd get to see Nyx all the time. As tempting as it was, it was also distracting. I wouldn't be able to concentrate on my work with him nearby.

"3rd floor," I said, choosing to be far from him because I needed to be productive. And to do that, I had to be as far away from my insatiable vampire lover as I could.

"Okay." He picked up his office phone and called Jax. "Prepare an office on the 3rd floor," he spoke into the receiver before turning to me. "Is there anything specific you want in the office?"

"Floor-to-ceiling window and flower pots."

"Okay." He told Jax exactly what I wanted before he disconnected. "Your office will be ready by tomorrow. You'll also get to meet those working under you in the ad department."

"Great." I climbed down from his desk and walked around to the chair opposite him. I plopped down on it and watched him work.

I had always prided myself on how fast I was with my work, but seeing Nyx work made me reconsider that. Meh, he was fast. Before I knew it, the pile on the table had reduced, and it hadn't even been up for an hour!

How the hell did he pull that off?

"Power of a vampire, Kuschelbär." He winked. "We're not only fast with our feet."

"Who asked you to read my thoughts?" I frowned.

He lifted his shoulders in a shrug. "Not my fault when you were practically screaming it. And I didn't know you didn't speak it out loud. I was busy with my documents then."

"I see," I muttered even though I didn't really buy his excuse.

"So." He closed his laptop. "I met Kelvin yesterday."

I froze at the mention of that bastard's name. I gulped as I placed my hand on the table before asking, "Where?"

"Jax fixed a meeting."

"Oh. I see."

I really didn't know what to say. Hearing Kevin's name brought so many emotions, and the strongest was anger. I balled my palms into fists and tried so hard not to grit my teeth.

To think that bastard was still alive after what he did to me? You would have thought Karma had caught up with him for what he did.

"I'll be your Karma, Rex," Nyx whispered, so close to me I would have jumped in fright if I were not used to how fast he was, and how he always appeared next to me in the blink of an eye. "I promised you revenge, didn't I? I'll make sure I give you a befitting one." He cupped my jaw and raised my face, so I locked my eyes with his. "I don't do half-measures, Rex. When I'm finished with him, the only place he'll exist is in your memory — and even then, only if you let him." He smiled, showing off his fangs. "You don't have to forgive, and you don't have to forget. You have to trust that I won't let him breathe easy while you still lose sleep."

I didn't answer. But I leaned into his palm, and he took that as enough. I didn't know what the future held. But I knew, with absolute certainty, that he meant every word.

He leaned down and placed a kiss on my lips. "You have my word. I won't let you down."
