Chapter 37 - Auctioning Items

After Max logged out, he wasn't aware of the outcome he caused in the Aethernova Industries' headquarters.

He was careless, after all. He was also confident that they would accept his offer.

It was currently 12pm and the moment he left the gaming pod, hunger instantly struck him.

He immediately went to his auntie's refrigerator to get the raw foods he bought yesterday to be cooked today.

At the moment, he was careless about the money he saved after he auctioned his silver coins and spared mage equipment.

He even planned to spend all his silver coins but he didn't want to repeat the same mistake. He might not have a use for silver coins, but he still left ten silver coins just in case.

After he finished cooking and eating, Max scrolled on his social media and discovered that the First Ranger and First Support had already been announced yesterday.

It occurred just hours away from the First Swordsman announcement.

Hence, the social media was not entirely talking about the first three, but their topic mostly covered about the First Mage.

After all, the First Swordsman, the First Ranger, and the First Support's real identity has been publicly announced. Yet, the First Mage's real identity was unknown.

Furthermore, the First Mage has surpassed the others in terms of the time intervals in announcement, making him not only one of the most mysterious figures, but one of the powerful players in Apocalypse Online.

It wouldn't even be surprising if he remained the strongest even after the second class advancement.

The other players were dying to know about his real identity.

In fact, many gaming organizations have already expressed their desire to know about him, even rewarding someone who could reveal his actual identity.

However, Max wasn't enticed at all. He was completely aware of how dangerous it was to become a contracted player to an organization.

In other words, I'll become a slave to them. I must invest all of my time into the game.

Those were what Max thought as he then proceeded to the Aethernova website and checked the RMT System.

As expected, his silver coins and mage equipment became the highlight in the market.

His hands trembled when he realized that the two batches of silver coins had already reached 20,000 US Dollars.

The mage equipment, on the other hand, were quite low, remaining to be at 10,000 US Dollars.

However, that was more than enough.

Max immediately searched for a convertor website and his heart skipped a beat.

He drew a cold breath.

It's almost 69,000 CAD. What the fuck?!

With such an amount of money, it was enough for him to pay a downpayment on a house.

Max's heart felt like it was about to leap out of his chest. Not in his wildest dreams he would earn such an amount of money.

He pinched his chin and pondered. I guess, this is to be expected, for the first month inside the game earning a silver coin is still difficult. It's only been a week and there's already 40 silver coins. A player with such an amount of money inside the game is already way ahead compared to other players.

In fact, if it wasn't for the equipment he received from the rewards, Max wouldn't hesitate to spend all the silver coins to buy a Common Rank equipment.

However, because of the rewards, he didn't need to spend an extravagant amount of money.

Max closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and shouted at the top of his lungs.

"LET'S GOO!!"

Once Max received the money, he wouldn't hesitate to buy the NovaPro Immersion Pod.

That was the first thing that came to his mind—it was the most important thing to invest on, after all.

For the remaining hours, Max continued to check on the website and the total price of what he sold finally settled on 70,000 US Dollars, causing his heart to remain unsettled.

It was already all over the social media about the equipment and coins that the First Mage auctioned on Aethernova's website.

There were countless posts that tagged Aethernova about revealing his real identity, and other popular organization's pages also went around with them.

However, what was the most surprising was the Greyfen Village players' post.

It seemed it was linked to the Lewis official page, where they posted a video with Julian, who narrated what occurred inside the game.

Max watched it and discovered that Julian was narrating what happened during their encounter. Jaden was also in the video, sharing his frustrations, saying that the First Mage was a selfish, arrogant person.

Max read the comments and found out that the Greyfen Village players were also commenting, hating how Max was a loner simply because of his arrogant attitude.

Keyboard warriors then followed suit, destroying Max's image entirely.

However, Max didn't care, not even a bit.

It wouldn't affect his sales anyway.

It was similar to the circumstances, where a politician wouldn't care if he got exposed for corrupting the people's money, even if they hated him on social media.

They would continue to do it anyway.

Of course, compared to them, Max was doing legal work.

He thought. It's better this way, that they know I hate them to the core. These greedy players… They wouldn't change, not even when the apocalypse descends.

Max shook his head and decided to sleep the remaining two hours.

12 pm, March 5, 2028. The fifth day that Apocalypse Online was launched.

There were 20 percent of the players, who already completed their first class advancement. That was why there were mage players, who bid for Max's common rank equipment.

A common rank equipment cost silver coins, after all, and they barely gathered around a single silver coin.

Unless they would accept quests, the easiest way to get equipment was to buy them using real money… Of course, such a method was only feasible for the wealthy.

Max woke up from the alarm and immediately checked on the Aethernova website the current bidding price and adrenaline spiked when he saw it reached 75,000 US Dollars in total.

A wide grin formed on his face as he excitedly dived into the game, anticipating the reply from the CEO.
