My heart lurched and plunged like a stone in a well. As the memories of that night flashed through my mind, I stood frozen. The images came unbidden—his hands on my body, his breath against my skin, the feeling of being completely and utterly powerless. I had tried so hard to bury those memories, but now they came rushing back with a vengeance.
Even Molly's victorious grin seemed to falter. Alicia, unable to contain herself, shrieked in terror. "No! No! It was just a mishap." Alicia's face drained of color, her earlier confidence completely evaporating. Desperately, she pleaded, "Your Highness, please, let me have another chance to compete. I swear I'll win. I'll do anything!"
"You've missed your shot," Jayce said with a smirk. His eyes glinted with cruel amusement as he watched Alicia squirm. "I hope to see you scampering around the palace in the buff tomorrow. It would be quite the sight. The servants will have something to talk about for weeks."
