Chapter 35 - Chapter 7 – Shadow in the Alley (1926)

Dusk draped Windgrave in muted gold, the streets twisting like a maze of shadows. Josiah moved carefully, Solar Titanium at his side, the Stand's golden sheen flickering faintly in the fading light. He could sense something lurking in the alleys—a tension that crawled over his skin, prickling every nerve.

Three cloaked figures emerged, moving with precision and silence. One drew a dagger, another wielded a chain, and the last carried a strange, jagged staff. Josiah tightened his grip on his sword, Hamon pulsing through him, while Solar Titanium mirrored his stance, fists raised.

The first attacker lunged. Solar Titanium's fist shot forward before the dagger could reach him, striking with blinding speed and knocking the figure into a wall. Josiah followed immediately, Solar Strike tearing through the air as Hamon infused each punch. The second attacker swung the chain, but the Stand's fists intercepted mid-air, the metallic crack echoing down the alley.

The third figure moved unpredictably, darting from shadow to shadow. Josiah's mind raced, calculating timing, distance, and trajectory. He feinted with his sword, Solar Titanium striking simultaneously, smashing the attacker into the cobblestones. Sparks and shards flew with every impact.

The fight became a blur of motion. Josiah leapt, spun, and dodged while Solar Titanium blocked and countered with flawless precision. His senses burned with exertion. He realized these weren't ordinary thugs—they coordinated, adapted, and seemed to anticipate his attacks, testing him at every turn.

Finally, the three fled, leaving behind black feathers and the faint hum of dark energy lingering in the air. Josiah's chest heaved, sweat matting his hair. He looked down at Solar Titanium, whose golden eyes glowed faintly, almost as if acknowledging the victory.

"The shadow is watching," he muttered, thinking of the leader hidden somewhere in the darkness. "And next time, we'll be ready."

As he walked back toward the estate, Josiah's mind replayed every strike, every counter, every move. Solar Titanium had responded perfectly, but the enemies had shown adaptability he hadn't seen before. Each encounter was a lesson—a step toward understanding both his Stand and the threats gathering against him.

The alley fell silent once more. But Josiah knew the night wasn't over. Somewhere in Windgrave, shadows stirred, testing him, learning him, preparing for the real confrontation yet to come. And with Solar Titanium at his side, he would meet them head-on, faster, stronger, and more precise than ever.
