Chapter 168
GEORGIA POV.
I slipped in the tub and nearly hit my head, but I struggled to my feet, pushing away everything in my way. I stood on my tiptoes to see out the window. He was no longer there, but I knew it was him. I wasn't mistaken.
That face was the one I had longed to see for months. I had walked the streets hoping to see him, so how could I not recognize him even if I only saw him for a second?
My heart came alive in that moment, beating in a way it hadn't in years. I had thought my heart was dead and unable to feel again, but I was wrong.
Jumping down from the tub, I ran out of the bathroom toward the door. My heart pounded wildly just from knowing he was there. It wasn't a dream!
It was real! Nikolaj had actually come back. He had come for me. I pulled at the doorknob, but it was locked, and I began to hit it, even though I was sure no one would hear.
I pounded on the door with all my might and even pulled at the knob foolishly.
