The ceremony ended and Nanisha looked around, frowning, not a single familiar face in sight, she despised this body's dad for selling his daughter off but a part of her felt a spark of relief, at least now she could put her revenge into motion
Everyone exited the grand hall, the golden-eyed Djinn filing out silently, and she was left walking behind her maids as they escorted her back to her room, her steps echoing on the marble floor.
"Your highness," Lagartha said quietly, "you will be going to Earth in seven days. The king expects you to fulfill your role there fully prepared."
"Role?" Nanisha asked, voice trembling, trying to hide the panic that was clawing inside her chest.
Lagartha glanced at her carefully, her eyes full of worry. "You are to serve as a vessel, Your Queen. Your blood will strengthen the king. Every action you take there matters. You must obey and adapt."
The doors to her chamber opened without warning and her husband, the king, walked in like he owned the air she was breathing.
The maids froze in shock, their hands trembled as they bowed immediately, none of them expecting him to come to her room this soon
Without a word they hurried out lowering their heads, their robes swishing against the floor as they rushed to give them privacy
The door shut behind them
And just like that, it was only Nanisha and Lucifer in the room.
"You can't bow to your king?" Lucifer said, his eyes piercing into hers.
She was already getting fed up with this man, every word from him scraping against her patience.
"My apologies… my king," she said carefully, her voice steady even though her pulse was racing.
"Your dad said you would be submissive," Lucifer said, his crimson eyes narrowing slightly as he studied her.
Lucifer paused looking directly at her, "You're not what he described" Lucifer murmured.
Nanisha couldn't wait to go back to Earth, the thought of it sitting heavy in her chest like a promise.
Her fingers tightened at her sides as heat spread under her skin, she clutched her dress tight thinking of a very good plotted revenge she forgot Lucifer still stood in front of her.
"Do not space out while the king speaks to you!" Lucifer roared, his voice shaking the walls as Nanisha snapped back into herself
She lifted her head slowly and stared at him, disgust flashing in her crimson eyes before she could hide it
All her life she had been treated like royalty in her own world, her dad the biggest business tycoon, doors opening before she even touched them, people lowering their voices when she walked in
She had been a nepo baby and she knew it, protected, privileged, never spoken to like she was nothing
And now this man stood before her, talking to her like she was beneath him
She couldn't fathom it
The audacity
Her jaw tightened but she forced herself to stay silent, because no matter how much it bruised her pride, she was not in her world anymore.
Lucifer stepped closer, his presence filling the room, his crimson eyes locked on hers as if daring her to look away
"We are going to Earth in seven days," he said slowly, his voice heavy with authority, "and you will behave accordingly"
He began to walk around her, circling her like he was assessing a weapon he had just acquired
"Earth is not like here. There are people there. Good and bad. Fathers who pretend to love their daughters. Men who promise forever and deliver betrayal. Sweet words that hide poison"
Nanisha's chest tightened but her face remained still
"You will not be deceived by sweet talks," he continued, stopping in front of her, his gaze sharp, "humans are weak and manipulative. They cry, they beg, they lie. Do not fall for it. We will stay there for a while"
His expression hardened
"There are many sinners that need discipline. Many souls that think they can escape consequence. I will deal with them, and you will stand beside me without interference"
Nanisha swallowed slowly
If only he knew
He was warning her about a world she knew too well.
She watched him as he lectured her looking as serious as ever, He stepped forward to gibe her his last warning, she stepped backward by his sudden step, the space between them was like seven inches, she became nervous and without thinking, distracted, and her heel slipped on the polished floor
Before she could catch herself, she stumbled forward
Straight into him
Her hands pressed against his chest, for a brief second she froze, caught between fear and the strange warmth of his body
Then something in his expression changed
"Control yourself," he growled, voice cutting through the room, he pushed her away from him which made her slam into the wall mirror shattering it into pieces, there were bruises on her arms and she could feel the sting of humiliation burning hotter than the fall
He didn't feel a thing about what he just did and didn't care.
Lucifer turned and walked out, long strides, the door slamming behind him.
Before she could think, the door burst open
Lagartha and the other maids stormed in, their faces pale with alarm
"Your Highness !" Lagartha shouted, rushing forward, hands moving to press cloth against the bleeding arm.
"Your Highness," Lagartha said with worry, stepping closer, "you shouldn't anger the king"
Her voice was calm, careful, not trying to argue, just offering a brief warning
Nanisha's crimson eyes flicked toward her, still burning from frustration, still stinging from the shattered mirror and her bleeding arm.
Lagartha cleaned her wounds, the sting of the cloth pulling at her arm, and Nanisha finally let herself move
She got up slowly, every step heavy with exhaustion and anger, and sat on the edge of the bed
Her crimson eyes glistened as she looked at the maids
"All of you, leave," she said, voice low but firm, "give me privacy"
They hesitated, worry in their eyes, but Lagartha nodded quietly and helped them out, closing the door behind them
Nanisha let herself collapse into her feelings, tears spilling freely, hot and bitter, the grief and rage she had buried for days finally flooding out
She cried until her chest ached, until her throat was raw, until she felt almost empty
When she could finally breathe again, she wiped her face and stood, her mind sharp and burning
She left the room silently and made her way to the bath, Nanisha stared at her reflection in the water. She isn't waiting for seven days, No! Not with this wicked man, she made up her mind to flee the palace the next day and locate earth herself!
