Chapter 1 - 1

Zhen's POV

1.

I ducked an arrow that barely missed my forehead. As I raised my head,I saw many warriors running as they fought with all their strength. The uniforms were of four arrays. It was obvious three armies were in sync against a particular army. With blue sashes and silver breastplates, flaming swords and flint spears, the 'Xiao Meh' Army of the Golden Gate prevailed against their opponents.

Though the battle was at twilight a great light started to shine from one of the warriors who sat on a white horse. The horse itself seemed like an array of lights. The seven gem stones on its crane beamed with such beauty as I've never seen before. From where I hid, I could make out the stones, it was Sapphire, Onyx, Emerald, Diamond, Thirsten, gratuis and Emelry. Any direction the horse turned, warriors were slain ten feet away.

As the battle got more intense, and the three armies consulted together, four dragon-like beings were released from a cage at the north west of the battle ground. They thrashed all they came in contact with at the speed of light. Upon seeing this, the man on the horse hit the staff he held on the floor and boom, a fire-like light hit a great distance and killed thousands of the warriors, including the four beasts. The Kings became disturbed and couldn't believe their eyes. Almost all their warriors have lost their life in the 'Battle of Moskei' It was time to retreat. As the call was made to all and I made to go as quickly as my legs could carry me, I heard a loud call 'Zhen!' I looked back and saw the being on the white horse running towards me and before I could blink, he picked me up and I hung unto him as tight as I could.

We kept racing past the fleeing armies of the opponent and did not stop until we got to a meadow tree where everything was covered in snow save the horse we came down from. 'I am Wei Chen' he said and I paused a moment, that name seems unbelievably familiar. 'I am Zhen' I said before realizing that I now remember my name. It was as though a flood gate was opened; everything came back to me. 'Who then is this?' I thought to myself. I remember, the blue and velvet light. I remember entering into the light. 'What can I get you?' Wei Chen asked. 'May I know the region and year we are in? I asked, unsure of what his response will be. 'It is the year of the blood moon, in the month of Yi' he said. 'Wait, what? The year of the blood moon? That's like hundred years before my birth' I thought to myself 'What region please?' I garnered courage to ask. He paused a bit and said 'The Beomi region' That's also one of the names according to the distribution as at that time.

My puzzled look prompted Wei Chen to ask, 'Are you okay?' 'I stifled a smile and replied 'I am'. 'Good then, lets get you something to eat' I immediately remembered that was what that charming villain told me before the battle ensued back then. 'Maybe it will all come together soon, I'll just follow the flow' I said to myself. 'Thank you so much for rescuing me' I muttered. 'First, eat. Then we'll talk about how you got on that battle field.' As he said that I began to rehearse the possible reasons I would give.

The meal was nothing unexpected. It was baked flour with some vegetables and soup made with shrimps and seaweed. I finished every bit that was on the tray. It was as though it had ingredients to cure the numbness I felt in my body. He prepared a warm bath for me and I couldn't be more thankful. He gave me fresh clothing and offered me warm milk just to get me refreshed. 'You know, you were lucky I found you first' he said. 'Really! What's the worse that could have happened' I teased. 'You will find out soonest.' He blurted. 'I think I've hit a spot there; I guess he's not much of a joker' I thought to myself. 'Please don't take me back to the battle' I pleaded. 'I don't plan to' he said as he made to leave. I ran after him.

Suddenly there were sounds of horse hoofs and I became sore afraid. I couldn't make out the expression on his face. It was distant yet near,a knowing look yet filled with uncertainty. 'Make sure you say nothing to whomever you see approach this tent!' 'Okay'. I said. 'Those are the sound of the Southern Emissaries and my queen is present' Wei Chen said and I saw a tint of fear mixed with guilt in his demeanour.

As we got outside the tent, I saw four more radiant horses, with their riders on them. The first could pass for a unicorn, it had all shades of purple. The second had a golden tan on it and was in the similitude of a Lion though a horse. The third was peach and smelled like rose petals, yet, it was fierce looking. The fourth was also white but had streaks of gold, purple ad peach. She radiated with the aura of a queen and so was her rider. The golden horse and the one with all shades of purple had male riders. The third had a female rider as the fourth. Wei Chen bowed and did obeisance to all of them, and they gestured back.

I do not understand what was happening and neither did he choose to tell me. It took me quite some minutes before I realized that my agitation is over someone I barely know. The Queen's expression was really furious. 'What could he have done?' I reminisced. 'Did he run away from their sect?' 'Is she his mother and he has a bride back home(wherever that is)?' 'Will they just order him to go with them?' 'Will he leave me behind?' 'My questions were unending. Lost in the maze of my mind,I heard a voice shout 'Wei Chen! You were absent from the Dorm of Khuixe' thundered the Queen. 'Indeed I was and I take full responsibility, Queen Dowehi' Kyung Joon said shakily. 'Meet us at the three streams' echoed the man of the purple toned horse. In unison they did obeisance and vanished.
