Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Shocking Connors for a Hundred Years

Looking at Peter talking eloquently in front of her,

Gwen couldn't help but have an incredibly strange thought pop into her mind.

How come... it feels like Peter is acting more like a superhuman than I am!

Although this thought only lasted for less than 0.01 seconds, it was decisively snuffed out by Gwen.

However, after coming back to her senses, Gwen had to admit that the current Peter was indeed more attractive than before.

What Gwen didn't know at this time was that Peter's words actually contained no element of boasting at all.

It wasn't until he truly inherited his Previous Incarnation's genius brain that he understood the weight of Elder Qian's saying: "No matter how stupid a person is, can they still not learn calculus by the age of 14?"

The formulas and theories in his past life's university courses, which were like cryptic books that could only be memorized by rote, were now things that Peter could understand at a glance and even apply to other situations.

Combined with the horse talisman's ability to perfectly eliminate the fatigue and wear-and-tear caused by long hours of study, his current learning efficiency could simply be described as a cheat code.

With the support of such perverse learning efficiency, getting a double doctorate was truly as simple as eating or drinking water for him!

Gwen looked at Peter's confident and high-spirited profile, and after a slight hesitation, she nodded and said:

"Alright then, I'll take you to see Dr. Connors after school."

Just as the two were talking and laughing about "Dr. Connors," a tall figure swayed as he walked onto the school bus.

It was the bully of Midtown High, "Flash" Thompson.

He habitually scanned the bus, looking for that "Nerd Parker" whom he could bully for fun at will.

Quickly, he locked onto his target.

But before the sneer on his face could fully bloom, it instantly froze at the corners of his mouth.

Because he saw that Peter Parker was currently sitting with Gwen Stacy!

The two were leaning very close, talking and laughing, and the atmosphere was incredibly intimate!

The moment he realized this, Flash instantly behaved himself.

Who was Gwen Stacy?

She was the Police Director's daughter!

Once he provoked her, her father really would go to the Board of Trustees and make sure he got what was coming to him!

With this thought, Flash immediately became honest and slunk off to find a seat.

Forget it, today is not a good day to cause trouble.

Better wait for a time when Gwen isn't around to properly "greet" that Parker kid!

Flash comforted himself this way in his heart, unaware that he had already forever missed the only opportunity of his life.

Having missed today, for the rest of his life, he would only be able to look up at the "nerd" he once looked down upon.

However, this wasn't necessarily a bad thing; at least, a certain bully managed to save his own life... After school, Gwen brought Peter to the Oscorp building as promised.

With her intern ID card, the two reached Dr. Connors' laboratory area without any hindrance.

But before they could even reach the lab door, a heated argument drifted out from behind the ajar door.

"Dr. Connors, I need a definite timeframe! Not those ambiguous promises of yours!"

A slightly sharp female voice clearly reached Peter's ears, her tone full of the arrogance of an ultimatum:

"Too much money and time have already been invested in this project. The boss and the board have lost their patience!

If you still can't produce visible results, then I'll regretfully have to deliver the bad news of budget cuts or even... shutting down the entire project!"

"Give me a little more time!"

Dr. Connors' voice sounded tired and raspy, yet it still carried a hint of stubbornness.

"We're only one step away! Just one final formula, and we can transfer lizard DNA to humans.

This will be a great leap forward in the history of human medicine! We will cure all diseases, regenerate missing limbs! Even cancer might be conquered because of this!"

"Heh! Still the same old story!"

The female assistant let out a disdainful cold laugh:

"The board has been hearing this rhetoric for three whole years; their ears are practically calloused!

Dr. Connors, I am now officially representing Mr. Norman Osborn to give you a final ultimatum.

One month! I'm giving you only one last month. If the project still has no progress, you can expect to pack your bags and leave."

Click, click, click~

The sound of high heels clicking on the floor drew closer.

Gwen immediately pulled Peter aside to avoid her.

Only after the brown-haired female assistant walked away with a haughty expression did she lead Peter into the lab.

Inside the spacious laboratory, everything was a mess.

Curt Connors was currently slumped dejectedly in a chair.

The right sleeve of his white lab coat was empty, making him look even more down-and-out.

Noticing Gwen and Peter behind her, Dr. Connors twitched the corners of his mouth, barely forcing a smile that looked worse than crying:

"Sorry, kids, I've made a fool of myself in front of you."

Gwen opened her mouth, but for a moment, she didn't know how to comfort him.

However, Peter beside her seemed completely oblivious to the awkward atmosphere as he walked straight to the whiteboard in the lab.

The whiteboard was densely covered with various complex formulas and derivation processes, and a central area had clearly been erased and rewritten many times, leaving a large, blurry smudge.

Peter's gaze fell on that smudge.

After looking at the preceding formula derivations, he could basically confirm it.

What Dr. Connors lacked was indeed just the formula related to the Decay Rate Algorithm. He could completely help him solve this problem!

Thinking of this, Peter subconsciously reached out and picked up the black marker next to the whiteboard.

Without the slightest hesitation, he began to slowly lower his pen below the blurry area that had been repeatedly erased.

The tip of the pen moved across the whiteboard, making a series of soft "squeaking" sounds.

Beautiful and rigorous symbols and numbers flowed from his pen, forming a brand-new calculation path.

At this moment, time seemed to slow down.

Gwen, who was thinking about how to comfort the doctor, looked up at the sound and was instantly stunned by the scene before her!

Peter... was actually trying to derive the Decay Rate Algorithm?

Seemingly noticing Gwen's gaze, the dejected Dr. Connors also followed her look toward Peter.

And then, in just a dozen seconds, his expression underwent a dramatic change from doubt, to shock, and then to horror!

He suddenly sprang up from his chair, his bloodshot eyes staring fixedly at the newly appeared line of formulas on the whiteboard, his breathing almost coming to a halt!

Impossible!

This is absolutely impossible!

This Decay Rate Algorithm that had troubled him and his entire team for years... a problem that even the World's top geneticists were helpless against... was actually... nonchalantly... solved by a high school student?!!
