The rain fell in a rhythmic dance against the glass of the hotel room creating a soft symphony that enveloped Kanishk and Kashvi in a cocoon of intimacy. The flickering candlelight cast playful shadows on the walls but it was the warmth between them that truly illuminated the space. They had come a long way since their first encounter. It was an accidental meeting at a bustling café where their eyes locked over steaming cups of coffee. Now here they were two souls entwined in a delicate web of affection, laughter and unspoken promises. Kashvi leaned against the plush headboard. Her dark hair cascading over her shoulders like a waterfall. "You know," she said. Her voice barely above a whisper, "I think I'm ready for the next step." Kanishk turned to her. Surprise etched across his features. "What do you mean by the next step?" he asked. His heart racing at the thought of her words. "I want to get married," she declared. Her eyes shining with determination. "I want to marry you Kanishk." His breath caught in his throat. The weight of her statement hung in the air. Thick and palpable. "Kashvi… are you sure? I mean we've only just begun to explore what we have together." The uncertainty in his voice betrayed his own feelings. A mixture of excitement and fear. "Yes, I'm sure," she insisted. Her gaze unwavering. "But there's something you need to know first." She paused biting her lip as if weighing the impact of her next words. "Asmee isn't my biological mother." The revelation hit him like a cold wave crashing against the shore. "What? But… I thought you were…." "I know what you thought," she interrupted. Her voice tinged with sadness. "But my past is complicated, Kanishk. I'm the illegitimate child of Tushant Deshmukh. Asmee doesn't know this. She only knows that I'm his parentless niece."
Kanishk's mind raced. He had always sensed there was more to her story than met the eye. "Kashvi, I don't care about your past. What matters is who you are now." A faint smile broke through her sombre expression. "Thank you for understanding. It's just that Rishit is pressuring my parents to marry me off to his business partner. He thinks it will benefit his career." "Rishit?" Kanishk's voice hardened at the mention of the man who had been lurking in the shadows of their lives. "You can't let him dictate your choices, Kashvi. You deserve to make your own decisions." "I know," she replied. Her voice trembling slightly. "But he's relentless. He doesn't take no for an answer." Just then a sharp knock echoed through the room shattering their moment. Kanishk's heart sank as the door creaked open to reveal Rishit, his expression a mask of anger. "There you are!" he exclaimed. His voice laced with condescension. "I've been looking everywhere for you, Kashvi. Your parents are worried sick." Kashvi shot Kanishk a pleading glance. "Rishit, I was just.." "Spending time with this loser?" Rishit cut her off. His tone dripping with disdain. "You could be making better choices, you know. Why waste your time here when you could be preparing for your future?" "What future? The one you've planned for me?" she shot back. Her frustration bubbling to the surface. Rishit stepped closer invading her space. "You don't understand how important this is. My business partner is a good match for you. He has connections, resources and everything you need to succeed." Kanishk stood up fists clenched at his sides. "She doesn't need anyone to succeed especially not someone like you." Rishit turned his icy gaze towards Kanishk. His lips curling into a sneer. "You really think you can protect her? I have ways of ensuring she does what's best for her family." Kashvi felt a shiver run down her spine. "What do you mean by that?"
Rishit's smile widened unnaturally. "Let's just say I have a private investigator keeping tabs on you. Every time you sneak off with him, I'll know. Every little secret will be out in the open." Kanishk's blood boiled. "You're nothing but a coward, Rishit. You think you can intimidate her into submission? That won't happen." "Intimidation?" Rishit laughed mockingly. "No, my dear Kanishk it's called strategy. And I always win." With that Rishit turned and strode out, leaving a heavy silence in his wake. Kashvi sank back onto the bed. Her face pale. "I'm scared, Kanishk. He won't stop until he gets what he wants. Kanishk knelt beside her taking her hands in his. "We'll figure this out together. I promise you no one will come between us. Not Rishit not anyone." As the storm raged outside a new tempest brewed within their lives. A mystery that would test their love and resolve. Little did they know that the shadows of deceit were closing in threatening to unravel everything they held dear.
