Chapter 1 - Prologue: Questions.

The forest was covered with snow as it was snowing softly, soft fogs were coming out from the mouth of someone lying down on the snow, breathing heavily.

The teeth were sharp, and eyes were red, making it easier to differentiate it was a vampire. A female vampire to be exact. Male ones had longer ears.

As she tried to stand up, she was sent flying as a kick got delivered straight at her face, crashing into a tree. As the dust of the snow faded, revealed someone who looked like a complete edgelord. A black mask and a stylish black outfit with a black cape as well.

"Mwahaha! Let the shadows end you, evil vampire!" Yes, he was a total edgelord. A human known as "Mr. Shadow" by the world. He was the leader to help the humans invade through the homeland of the vampires, Crisiniara.

The woman's breathing only got worse from the impact, before muttering. "Coward, you kept me away from my team so that once my bloodthirst starts, I can't get rid of it and get weak." She said, as she wiped off the blood from the corner of her mouth.

"I shall do anything, for the shadows to gain victory over the evil vampire, ahahaha!" Yes, he was a true edgelord, there was no denying it.

While he was doing his edgelord speed, the woman bit her own arm hard, her teeth sinking into her own flesh. You are not getting away so easily, Shadow. She said in her mind.

As soon as Shadow, finished his speech. He was hit straight into the face by a large log. His mask cracking a little, as he fell back down on the snow underneath him. He was just trying to figure out what just happened, before turning pale. The log made a hole through a thick tree trunk.

The woman in front of him, cut off a tree and sliced it into logs, ready to send another at him. An evil grin on her face with blood stain on her mouth, still exhausted but less than earlier. "As long as I am alive, you will never invade my home, Shadow." She said, as she threw the log at him. Faster now, this one was lightning fast.

He pulled out his sword and split it horizontally in half, a soft smug sound audible underneath his mask, before getting kicked in the gut by her, and gets sent flying and crashes into a tree as well.

The woman's breathing gets heavier, her vision blurry as she barely maintained her consciousness. But she grinned slightly, already aware what was going to happen.

Shadow got back up, but his body was very obviously trembling in pain. He tried to hide it, but his legs said so otherwise. "My plan, seems to have failed. I shall allow you to live this time, evil vampire! But you will die, next time!"

But he was thinking something entirely different. How did she recovered that much strength, already. My body is screaming in pain from the impact of her throw, I have to make a bluff quick and escape! With that, he dropped a smoke bomb on the ground and escaped through it.

The woman's breathing got heavier, as she passed out and fell forward on the snow, or it seemed so. She bit her arm again, and after some time, stood back up again, heading through the forest.

How would I introduce myself to you all? I suppose, the most basic introduction first of all, will be my name. Serelia. Serelia Serenis, my full name. It's obvious by now, that I am a vampire.

You all might be wondering, what am I doing here in the snow. Well, to put it in short. This area is the border, that seperates the homeland of the vampires, Crisiniara, from the human world. I act as a Sanguira here. What is a Sanguira, you may wonder? I suppose, among humans that would mean a knight.

My work here is simple as a Sanguira, guard the border and prevent humans from invading our homeland. In the past, they tried to attack our home, so we can't allow the same mistake again.

I have been brought here as a Sanguira, ever since I was a child. It wasn't because of my behaviour but.

As Serelia was walking, a polar bear suddenly lunged at her from behind, she turned around at a speed that couldn't be seen by the naked eye, punching the bear straight in the face, breaking its skull and sending it crashing into the snow, killing it right there.

I was sent here, not because I was a brat or something, but because I was too much for an average vampire like my father to handle, plus my abnormal strength was useful for a Sanguira.

It was for honour he said. I am pretty sure, it was for the sake of the architecture that I broke every week. But looking back at the bear I killed however, he wasn't really wrong about it.

Serelia eventually reached back at the borders as she slided down from the top of a rock. Immediately getting called out with a sharp yell.

"Serelia! Where have you been!?" Another female vampire yelled at Serelia, her eyes red just like Serelia's. This was Arabella.

As Serelia turned around to look at her. Arabella stopped as her tone immediately changed to one of concern at the sight of arm covered in blood. "What happe-!" She tried to ask before Serelia just said one word.

"Shadow..."

There was an awkward silence between the two for a moment, before Arabella sighed. "Of course, its that moron. Anyways drink some blood quick to heal it up."

"I already did."

"... When?"

"To get up when he left."

"... But you forgot your vials here, then ho-... Don't tell me, you didn't dran-"

"Yes, I drank my own blood... Again."

"This is the third time now!" Arabella yelled at Serelia. "You can't constantly drink your blood to survive, because even if it helps you recover, it affects your own health later and weaken you, did you forget that again!?"

Serelia sighed, as she explained her reasoning. "I was in my bloodthirst state, I had to do so, to get up again."

Arabella punched her nose in annoyance, but she couldn't argue with that. Drinking blood from your own body was an emergency method for a vampire to survive after all, and for Serelia, that situation indeed was an emergency.

"Well make sure to drink your vials then later."

"Alright."

...

The sun had set down, Serelia was drinking blood from a vial outside and staring at the moon, while everyone else were inside having a feast.

"Come near me, and I am going to throw you into the river, Ara." Behind Serelia, was Arabella, who stopped in her tracks upon hearing that, holding a plate of steak in her hands. "You are really far more enhanced in everything, as compared to the rest of us. Anyways, mind some steak?"

"No thanks, you already know I hate consuming anything other than blood from the vials, father sends me every week."

"Worth a try..." Arabella said. "Surprising that he had always sent you those every week, anyone else would had given up at the effort of always finding that many to send after a month already."

Serelia sighed. "The only reason he sent me here, because I was too much for him to handle so he wanted my strength to be put up for something beneficial. He don't want me to think, I hate him so he puts so much effort to send me these vials every week."

"Why do you only drink from vials, I am curious." Serelia paused at Arabella's question.

"I don't know myself. There are an inaccessibly infinite possibilities for what kind of vampire may born. Some can be weak or strong. Fast or slow. Full blood or Hybrid. Larger or smaller. Just like the number and nature of our worlds. There can be all possible kind of vampires. I was born with just one of such possibility."

Arabella thought, and concluded the answer was fair enough. "Then why do you only drink the blood from those vials then, and not anything else."

Serelia thought of a way to make up an excuse. So she started making random nonsense of "logic" and "necessity" to conclude why she doesn't consume anything else.

Arabella gave up on asking further after hearing that, as she sighed and went back inside. "Alright, I will continue with the feast, you just stay as you want."

Serelia just stared across the borders, as she raised a finger towards it, and sent a blood ray straight at a rock, killing a human hiding behind it. "I wonder, why do these humans think, their insignificant power, can even come close to ours. Other than Shadow, no one from that lower realm can even dream of existing in our higher realm, it would crush them completely by its mere presence."

This was a thought Serelia always wondered, why did those weak humans always tried to reach a higher plane of existence which treated their lower realm as a piece of paper. But she was also curious over how could Shadow compete with her inside their realm.

That was a question she always wanted an answer about, but she knew she couldn't find it now. But it won't be long until she finds the reason behind it.

She stood up and finally went back in, letting the night go on, then continue once again the next morning.
