The sun had climbed high over the mountains of Draveth, but the air still carried the scent of smoke and scorched earth.
Aira's sword hung at her side, still faintly warm with the remnants of her Flame Force. Her palms tingled with power, reminding her that yesterday's battle was only the beginning.
Kael walked beside her, carrying a small pack with supplies. The wind followed him, soft and playful, rustling her hair.
"You didn't sleep much," Aira said, narrowing her eyes.
Kael shrugged. "Couldn't. My hands keep buzzing… like something's trying to escape."
Aira tilted her head. "Sounds familiar."
They arrived at a quiet valley just outside the village. Trees encircled it like silent guards, and a crystal-clear stream ran through the center.
Master Dain stood in the middle, staff in hand, observing them. His eyes, sharp despite age, reflected calm wisdom.
"Today," he said, "you will learn control. Aira… your Flame Force is powerful, but untamed. Kael… your Wind Force is wild, but it can be guided. Together, you may survive what is coming."
Aira exhaled sharply, gripping her sword. "I'm ready."
Kael followed suit, fists clenching at his sides.
Master Dain motioned toward the clearing. "First exercise: focus your energy. Feel your Force, not just in your body, but in your spirit."
Aira closed her eyes. Flames flickered lightly along the blade. She focused, imagining the heat like a river running through her chest, her arms, and finally into the sword.
A tiny spark jumped from the tip. Her eyes opened wide.
"Yes…" she whispered.
Kael stepped forward. He raised a hand, pushing it slowly. The air around him shifted. A gentle breeze swirled into a small circle.
"Not bad," Aira muttered, impressed despite herself.
Master Dain nodded. "Good. But strength alone is not enough. You must fight together, anticipate, and adapt. Tomorrow, you will face your first test."
That night, the valley was calm. Stars reflected in the stream as Aira practiced silently. Flames now danced along her sword with precision, arcs sharp, controlled.
But as the night deepened, a shadow moved in the trees.
Eyes glowed red. A whisper of movement.
A dark creature, smaller and faster than yesterday's monster, crept toward them. Its form was twisted, almost humanoid, yet every movement radiated malice.
Aira sensed it before Kael did. "Someone's coming," she warned, sword raised.
Kael's hands glowed as the wind swirled around him instinctively. "I see it! Let's go!"
The creature leapt. Its claws slashed the air, faster than human eyes could follow.
Aira met it head-on, flames exploding in a controlled wave from her sword. Kael added a gust of wind, pushing the creature back.
It hissed, unnaturally intelligent, and circled them. Its eyes seemed to search for weakness.
Aira clenched her jaw. "We can do this… together."
The two Forces collided with precision. Flame and Wind danced in unison, attacking, defending, pushing the creature back.
It screeched, retreating for a moment, but then vanished into the shadows.
Breathing heavily, Aira lowered her sword. "That was… close."
Kael nodded, wiping sweat from his brow. "Yeah… but I think we can actually… work as a team."
Aira gave him a small smirk. "Don't get used to me praising you yet."
From the forest, a faint glow pulsed. Strange symbols flickered across the trees, invisible to the eye but felt in the chest—ominous, ancient, and powerful.
Master Dain's voice echoed softly in their minds, calm yet grave.
"The darkness knows where you are. This is only the beginning. Prepare yourselves. The real battle approaches."
Aira clenched her sword tighter. Her eyes burned brighter than the flames along her blade.
"I'll protect this village… and master my Flame Force. No matter what comes next."
Kael nodded silently, the wind swirling protectively around him.
Somewhere far away, Ren felt a pulse of energy. The Force was calling him too.
And somewhere deeper in the shadows, the red-eyed figure smiled.
The game of the Forces had truly begun.
