Chapter 21 - 20

Chapter 20

Time passed quietly after the royal banquet where Mia had officially been introduced as the heir to the throne of Genovia and her engagement to Ryan had been announced to the world. Life slowly settled into a new rhythm, although the changes that followed were far greater than anyone could have imagined at the time.

The next few years became the most important years of their lives.

By 2005, the world around them had changed completely.

Ryan, Mia and Rachel were no longer just students navigating school life and young love. They had grown into adults who carried responsibilities that affected entire countries and industries. Yet despite everything that had changed, the three of them remained inseparable.

Their relationship had deepened in ways none of them had expected.

Even after the engagement announcement, Ryan had never treated Rachel as someone secondary. Mia understood this better than anyone else. From the beginning she had known the kind of person Ryan was, and instead of creating distance between them, their bond had only grown stronger.

Many evenings they would sit together on the balcony of the large residence Ryan had established in Genovia. The Mediterranean breeze would carry the smell of the ocean across the palace gardens while the sun slowly disappeared behind the horizon.

Those quiet moments were often Ryan's favorite.

Sometimes Mia would talk about the challenges of learning to rule a country. Her royal training had continued every day under Queen Clarisse's supervision, and over time the shy and uncertain girl had slowly transformed into someone confident and composed.

Rachel, on the other hand, brought energy to everything she did. She refused to allow the responsibilities around them to make their lives too serious. If Mia spent too long studying royal documents, Rachel would drag both of them outside to explore the city or visit small restaurants hidden in the streets of Genovia.

Ryan watched them often during those moments.

Sometimes he wondered how his life had turned into something so strange and yet so perfect at the same time.

But while their personal lives grew stronger, Ryan's ambitions in business were expanding even faster.

After moving his base to Genovia, Ryan reorganized all of his companies under a single global structure.

The name he chose was simple.

Nova Group.

At first the organization had only been a loose collection of companies connected to Ryan's earlier ventures. But as the years passed, he transformed it into something far more powerful.

Nova Investments became the financial center of the entire system.

Ryan had predicted the collapse of the internet bubble years earlier. While the world had been celebrating the rise of technology companies during the late 1990s, Ryan had quietly prepared for the crash that would inevitably follow.

When the Dot-com bubble finally collapsed in 2000, billions of dollars vanished from the market.

Most investors panicked.

Ryan did the opposite.

Through Nova Investments he had already positioned enormous short positions against dozens of overvalued internet companies. When the crash arrived, Nova Investments made unprecedented profits in a matter of weeks.

But Ryan didn't stop there.

While the world was still recovering from the crash, he began purchasing shares in companies that he knew would define the future.

Apple was one of his biggest targets. Many investors had doubted the company during those years, but Ryan steadily accumulated shares until Nova Investments held a massive controlling stake.

Nvidia was another major investment. Graphics technology was still developing, but Ryan knew how important it would become in the future.

He also invested early in Google while the company was still young, securing influence that most investors could only dream of.

Amazon, Netflix and several other technology companies soon followed.

Ryan rarely announced these investments publicly. Instead he quietly built influence inside the companies by negotiating board positions and strategic partnerships.

At the same time he began funding dozens of small technology startups. Many of these companies were founded by young engineers who had brilliant ideas but lacked the resources to develop them.

Ryan offered them something simple: capital, infrastructure and global connections.

In return Nova Group secured partial ownership in companies that would one day dominate entire industries.

While Nova Investments handled the financial side of the empire, Nova Games continued expanding its influence in entertainment.

What had started as a small company built around Pokémon had grown into one of the largest gaming studios in the world.

The Nova console had evolved through several generations, each one more powerful than the last. Their handheld systems were equally popular, creating a gaming ecosystem that competed directly with the biggest names in the industry.

Ryan used his knowledge of future trends to guide the development teams.

Open-world games inspired by Grand Theft Auto became massive hits.

Post-apocalyptic role-playing games similar to Fallout attracted millions of players.

Fantasy adventures inspired by The Elder Scrolls built loyal fan communities across the world.

Military shooters influenced by Call of Duty brought Nova Games into the competitive multiplayer market.

Within a few years the company had grown from a team of ten people into a massive organization employing more than two hundred developers divided into specialized studios.

Despite this expansion, Ryan still occasionally visited the development teams personally.

Those visits reminded him of the early days when he and a small group of engineers had built their first handheld device together.

Security was another area Ryan never ignored.

As his influence increased, so did the potential threats around him. Instead of relying entirely on government protection, he decided to build his own private security organization.

Nova Security was born from that decision.

Ryan recruited former military officers, intelligence specialists and security experts from different countries. Many of them had experience in elite units and were looking for stable careers outside the battlefield.

The company quickly developed into a highly professional organization responsible for protecting Ryan's family, Nova Group facilities and several important political figures connected to Genovia.

Advanced surveillance systems, armored vehicles and specialized training programs became standard within the organization.

Even Queen Clarisse had been impressed when she first saw how carefully Ryan had designed the security structure around the palace.

But business expansion didn't stop there.

During his travels through Europe Ryan noticed that several historic fashion houses were struggling financially.

Some of these brands had once been symbols of luxury but had fallen behind in modern markets.

Instead of letting them collapse, Ryan began acquiring stakes in these companies through Nova Group.

Some brands were purchased entirely. Others remained independent but operated under Nova Group's financial control.

Luxury fashion houses, watchmakers and high-end accessory brands slowly became part of the Nova Fashion division.

Ryan allowed each brand to maintain its identity while providing the capital needed to modernize production and expand globally.

At the same time he turned his attention to the automobile industry.

Several mid-range and performance car manufacturers were facing bankruptcy in the early 2000s.

Through Nova Automobile he began acquiring these struggling companies and restructuring them.

New engineering teams were hired.

Research into hybrid engines and early electric vehicle technology began long before most competitors considered the idea seriously.

What had once been failing manufacturers slowly transformed into innovative automotive companies preparing for the next generation of transportation.

Perhaps the most controversial part of Ryan's empire was Nova Armory.

Ryan understood that the world's political structure often depended on military technology. Instead of ignoring that reality, he chose to participate in it carefully.

Nova Armory focused on defensive systems, communication technology, drones and advanced armor solutions.

Although the company operated within the military-industrial complex, Ryan maintained strict control over which contracts the company accepted.

The goal was influence and stability rather than destruction.

All of these companies operated under the umbrella of Nova Group, and the headquarters remained firmly rooted in Genovia.

The small Mediterranean kingdom began changing rapidly.

Technology companies opened research centers.

Financial institutions established offices.

Engineers and investors from around the world started paying attention to the once-quiet nation.

Within a few years Genovia transformed into a hub for technology, finance and international innovation.

But despite everything Ryan had built, his life still revolved around the people closest to him.

No matter how busy his schedule became, he always returned home in the evenings to spend time with Mia and Rachel.

Sometimes they walked through the quiet streets of Genovia at night when the crowds had disappeared.

Other nights they stayed inside watching movies or discussing plans for the future.

Those moments reminded Ryan why he had built such an enormous empire in the first place.

Power alone had never been his goal.

The future was.

And somewhere in that future, something even bigger was waiting.

Because deep in Ryan's mind, one thing had never disappeared.

The system.

For years it had remained silent, waiting patiently.

Waiting for the final condition to be fulfilled.

And when that moment arrived, the door to countless other worlds would finally open.
