Chapter 1 - Waiting List- The Moment of love

In the busy city of Kolkata, mornings always begin with noise. Cars rushing through the streets, people walking quickly to their offices, and the endless rhythm of the city never slowing down.

Standing in front of a modern media production office was Jinia. She held a file in her hand, her eyes full of confidence. Jinia had always been a straightforward person. Since childhood she believed in speaking the truth, even if it made people uncomfortable.

After finishing her journalism degree, she had finally received an opportunity to work on a documentary project in a well-known production house.

As she was about to enter the office, someone suddenly bumped into her.

The papers from her file fell all over the floor.

The young man looked annoyed and said,

"Can't you watch where you're going?"

Jinia immediately replied,

"Maybe you should stop looking at your phone while walking."

The man paused for a moment and then gave a sarcastic smile.

"Great. First day and already an argument."

Jinia picked up her papers and said calmly,

"I didn't start it."

The man extended his hand slightly and said,

"I'm Abir."

Jinia looked at him briefly and replied,

"Jinia."

And just like that, their first meeting began with a disagreement.

Later that morning, everyone gathered in the conference room for a meeting. The project head stood in front of the team.

"This new documentary project will be directed by Abir," he announced. "And Jinia will be part of the research team."

Jinia looked up immediately.

Him?

Abir glanced at her too, a small smirk forming on his face.

Both of them thought the same thing at the same time.

This is going to be difficult.

Within a few days, the entire office noticed something. Whenever Abir and Jinia worked together, an argument was almost guaranteed.

One afternoon during a planning discussion, Abir said,

"I think we should shoot in rural areas outside the city. The visuals will feel more authentic."

Jinia responded,

"But the documentary is about social reality. We should also show urban struggles."

Abir sighed in frustration.

"Do you always have to argue?"

Jinia replied calmly,

"It's not arguing. It's giving an opinion."

The room fell silent.

Yet strangely enough, despite their constant disagreements, the project slowly began to improve. Their different perspectives actually made the documentary stronger...

Jinia lived in South Kolkata with her parents.

Her father, Amitabh, was a school teacher who believed strongly in education and discipline. Her mother, Anuradha, was calm and thoughtful.

One night at dinner, her mother asked,

"How is your work going?"

Jinia sighed.

"There's this guy I have to work with. We argue about everything."

Her father smiled gently.

"Debates create better ideas. Don't see it as a problem."

Meanwhile, Abir lived in North Kolkata.

His father, Subhash, was once a theatre actor, passionate about art and storytelling. His mother, Meghna, had a warm and cheerful personality.

At dinner she asked him,

"How was your day?"

Abir laughed softly.

"There's a girl at work who challenges everything I say."

His mother smiled knowingly.

"That might be good for you."

Weeks passed as they worked on the documentary.

Location scouting, interviews, writing scripts, planning scenes. Abir and Jinia were constantly together.

One day they traveled to a small village for filming.

Suddenly it began to rain heavily.

The entire team took shelter inside an old classroom.

Jinia stood near the window watching the rain.

Abir walked over and said teasingly,

"You're quiet today. No arguments?"

Jinia smiled slightly.

"Even I don't feel like arguing all the time."

Abir leaned against the wall and said,

"You know… the office would actually feel boring without you."

Jinia looked at him with surprise.

"That's the first nice thing you've said to me."

They both laughed softly.

Outside, the rain continued to fall.

Inside that quiet moment, something unspoken began to grow between them....

The younger team members had started noticing their chemistry.

One day a junior joked,

"Sir, you two argue a lot… but honestly, you look good working together."

Jinia quickly responded,

"Don't talk nonsense."

Abir simply laughed.

"They exaggerate."

But somewhere inside, both of them began wondering about it.

One afternoon Jinia overheard someone saying that Abir had been offered a bigger project in another company.

She felt strangely upset.

Why didn't he tell me?

At the office she spoke very coldly.

Abir noticed immediately.

"What happened?" he asked.

"You're leaving for another project, right?" she replied.

Abir frowned.

"Who told you that?"

"Everyone seems to know."

Abir was quiet for a moment.

"Yes, the offer came."

Jinia looked away.

"But I refused it."

She turned back in surprise.

"Why?"

Abir smiled slightly.

"Because I didn't want to leave this project unfinished."

Then after a pause he added,

"And… I wanted to finish working with you."

For the first time, Jinia had nothing to say.

Weeks later, the documentary premiered in a small auditorium.

The entire team was present. Their families were there too.

When the final scene ended, the audience applauded loudly.

Outside the hall, Jinia stood quietly.

Abir walked over.

"You know," he said, "the first day we met, I couldn't stand you."

Jinia laughed.

"Same here."

Abir looked at her seriously.

"But now… if we don't argue at least once a day, the day feels incomplete."

Jinia smiled.

"So the arguments will continue?"

Abir nodded.

"Yes. But maybe now they'll mean something different."

They both laughed.

From a distance, their parents watched them.

Jinia's mother quietly said,

"Sometimes the most honest love begins with disagreement."

And in that moment, both Abir and Jinia finally understood what had been growing between them all along.

Behind every argument, there had always been something deeper....

The End...
