Chapter 35 - Chapter 35: Rival Cultivator Appears

The forest surrounding the hidden cave had grown quiet once again. Night settled over the mountains, and the distant city lights glimmered faintly in the darkness. Lin Tian had returned to his secret underground training chamber after absorbing two more energy stones. His body was buzzing with power, and his mind was sharper than ever.

For the first time since arriving on Earth, he began to feel a sense of absolute control over his energy threads. He could stretch them with precision, sense the faintest disturbances in the environment, and even manipulate multiple threads at once.

However, just as he settled into meditation, a subtle ripple of spiritual energy brushed against the edge of his awareness. It was faint… yet sharp, like a knife of energy slicing through the calm night.

Lin Tian's eyes snapped open. He had trained his senses well. He immediately sensed it again—another cultivator, a being of considerable strength, was approaching the mountains. Unlike the monsters or humans he had encountered before, this energy felt refined, deliberate, and intelligent.

"They're human…" Lin Tian whispered under his breath, his voice barely audible. "A cultivator. And not a weak one."

The Approach

The energy drew closer with each passing moment. Lin Tian's instincts told him that this cultivator had traveled far, likely sensing the energy stones he had already extracted. Unlike the ambient spiritual energy of Earth, this newcomer radiated pure cultivation energy, dense and controlled, like a stream flowing from a mountain spring.

Lin Tian rose to his feet, his body tensing in anticipation. He moved to the entrance of the cave, his energy threads extending subtly, probing the forest beyond for details. The moonlight revealed a figure moving with agility and precision among the trees.

The cultivator was tall and lean, dressed in black clothing that flowed like water as they ran. Their eyes glowed faintly, reflecting the moonlight. With each step, the ground beneath their feet seemed to vibrate with energy.

Lin Tian narrowed his eyes. "I didn't expect to meet a cultivator this early… but I suppose Earth is awakening faster than I thought."

First Contact

The rival finally stopped near the base of the cave entrance. They crouched low, scanning the area with a piercing gaze. Then, they spoke in a calm, melodic tone.

"I sense energy… unusual. Strong energy. Someone is hiding here."

Lin Tian responded silently, weaving his energy threads carefully through the undergrowth, ready to defend himself if necessary. The threads moved like invisible blades, slicing through leaves and branches as he gauged the newcomer's strength.

"I'm here to see who dares control energy stones," the cultivator continued. "I don't intend to harm anyone unnecessarily… but I will not let a rival take what I've sought."

Lin Tian stepped from the shadows of the cave. His expression calm, yet confident. "Energy stones belong to no one. But I will not let you take them from me."

The cultivator's eyes flickered with surprise at the boldness of someone so young. "Hmph. Bold… but you'll regret your arrogance."

Without another word, they extended a hand, and a sharp pulse of spiritual energy shot toward Lin Tian.

Clash of Energy

Lin Tian reacted instinctively, raising a thin thread of energy between his fingers. The pulse struck it, and sparks flew. The thread held firm.

The rival smirked. "Interesting. You have control… but let's see if you can handle this."

Suddenly, multiple streams of energy shot from the cultivator, twisting and converging like snakes. Lin Tian countered with threads of his own, crossing them precisely to deflect each strike. The two energies collided repeatedly, sending small shocks through the nearby rocks and trees.

Lin Tian focused. He wasn't going to overpower the cultivator with raw strength yet; his advantage was speed, control, and strategy. Using the threads, he weaved an intricate web around himself, forming a protective barrier. The rival's strikes collided with it repeatedly, unable to break through.

"You've trained well," the cultivator admitted, clearly impressed. "Not many can defend against me at this level."

Lin Tian didn't reply. He was studying the cultivator's movements, analyzing patterns, and looking for weaknesses. Each strike, each pause, each slight change in energy revealed subtle hints of technique.

Testing Limits

Minutes passed, though it felt like hours. Lin Tian realized the cultivator wasn't attacking recklessly—they were testing him, probing his abilities.

Finally, Lin Tian decided to take the initiative. He manipulated his energy threads to form sharp, spear-like projections that shot toward the rival with lightning speed. The cultivator reacted swiftly, dodging and countering, their own threads moving like flowing water.

They collided mid-air, energy tearing through the forest with a quiet roar. Lin Tian felt the pressure pushing against his body, but he maintained perfect control. Unlike before, he no longer feared overextension. His training in the underground cave, his absorption of energy stones, and his improved control allowed him to manipulate large amounts of energy without strain.

The rival's eyes widened slightly, recognizing the sudden surge in Lin Tian's strength.

"Impressive," they said, taking a step back. "Your growth… is faster than I expected."

Lin Tian gave a faint smile, keeping his guard up. "You'll find that Earth cultivators aren't weak… especially when they've been reborn with knowledge of the cosmos."

A Mutual Recognition

The forest fell quiet for a moment, the two cultivators standing opposite each other, the remnants of colliding energy dissipating into the night.

"You're… different," the rival said finally, their tone serious. "Most young cultivators are reckless and impulsive. You… you have control, experience… and restraint. Who are you?"

Lin Tian paused. He could have revealed his true identity as a former cosmic warrior reborn on Earth, but he decided against it.

"I am Lin Tian," he said simply. "And I will protect what I cultivate."

The rival studied him for a long moment, then nodded slightly. "Lin Tian… so be it. Our paths have crossed now. Expect a challenge soon."

Before Lin Tian could react, the cultivator vanished into the forest, leaving only faint traces of energy behind.

Lin Tian's eyes narrowed.

"Interesting," he murmured. "Earth may have hidden threats… but this will only make me stronger."

Preparing for the Future

Back in his underground training chamber, Lin Tian placed the remaining energy stones carefully. He began meditating once more, his mind focused on refining energy control.

The appearance of the rival cultivator had been unexpected—but it was also an opportunity.

Each challenge, each confrontation would strengthen him, just as it had in his previous life.

Lin Tian's cultivation journey on Earth was no longer just about survival—it was about dominance.

And now, with a rival to measure his strength against, the path ahead had become even clearer.

The night sky outside shimmered with faint starlight, as if acknowledging the rise of a new power.

Lin Tian's eyes gleamed with determination.

No matter who appeared, he would grow stronger.

No matter what the Earth or its secrets held, he would reclaim his cosmic path.

And nothing—no rival, no hidden force—would stop him. 🌌
