Chapter 29 - Chapter 29 – The Government Begins Investigating

The night after the monster appeared in the mountains was anything but peaceful.

Although most of the city slept without knowing what had happened, a series of emergency reports had already reached several government departments.

Phones rang continuously.

Computers displayed incoming data.

Security officers moved quickly through brightly lit offices.

Something unusual had happened in the mountains, and the authorities could not ignore it.

Strange Reports

It began with the hikers who had escaped the forest.

Several of them had managed to reach a nearby road and call for help.

When rescue teams arrived, the survivors were in a state of shock.

Their stories sounded unbelievable.

"A giant creature attacked us!"

"It was at least three meters tall!"

"It had horns and glowing eyes!"

At first, the rescue workers assumed the hikers were panicking or exaggerating.

Perhaps they had seen a bear in the dark.

But when the rescue team reached the campsite…

They became silent.

The area looked like a battlefield.

Trees had been broken in half.

Deep claw marks covered the ground.

Large rocks had been shattered as if struck by enormous force.

And in several places, the soil looked as though something extremely heavy had crashed into it.

One of the rescue workers muttered nervously, "No animal in these mountains could do this."

The others did not reply.

Because they were thinking the same thing.

The Security Bureau

Early the next morning, a confidential report arrived at a government building in the city.

The building belonged to the National Security Bureau, an organization responsible for handling unusual incidents.

Inside a private meeting room, several officials sat around a large table.

Photos from the mountain investigation were displayed on a screen.

Broken trees.

Destroyed camping equipment.

Gigantic claw marks.

The room remained quiet for a long time.

Finally, a middle-aged man wearing glasses spoke.

"This damage cannot be caused by normal wildlife."

Another officer nodded.

"Our analysts agree. Even a large bear would not leave marks like these."

A woman sitting near the end of the table leaned forward.

"What about illegal experiments? Someone releasing a modified animal?"

The man with glasses shook his head.

"We considered that possibility."

He changed the image on the screen.

Now a photo showed one of the massive claw prints clearly.

"The depth of this print suggests the creature weighed at least two tons."

Someone else spoke slowly.

"And yet there are no blood traces… no corpse… nothing."

The room became quiet again.

Finally, the director of the bureau spoke.

His voice was calm but serious.

"This incident will be classified as a Level-Three Anomaly."

Everyone understood what that meant.

It meant the government believed something beyond normal explanation had occurred.

Another Discovery

But the investigation did not stop there.

Several kilometers away from the destroyed campsite, another location had been discovered.

The place where Lin Tian had fought the monster.

Investigators arrived in the forest shortly after sunrise.

When they saw the scene, they were stunned.

More trees had been destroyed.

Large cracks covered the ground.

It looked like two powerful forces had collided violently.

One investigator crouched near a deep crater.

"Something hit the ground here with enormous force."

Another pointed toward a group of shattered trees.

"And something else was thrown through the forest."

One of the officers frowned.

"But where is the creature?"

There was still no body.

No bones.

No fur.

Nothing.

Only destruction.

One investigator quietly whispered, "What if… it was killed?"

The others looked at him.

"Killed by what?"

He hesitated.

Then he said something none of them wanted to consider.

"Maybe… another creature."

Surveillance Footage

Back at the Security Bureau headquarters, the investigation team began searching for additional clues.

They examined traffic cameras, satellite images, and emergency call records.

Eventually, one technician discovered something unusual.

"Sir, you should see this."

The director walked over.

On the computer screen, a traffic camera recording from late at night was playing.

The camera showed a quiet road leading toward the mountains.

For most of the video, nothing happened.

Then suddenly—

A figure appeared.

A young man running across the road.

But he was moving incredibly fast.

The technician slowed the video.

Even in slow motion, the speed looked unnatural.

The young man crossed the road and disappeared into the forest in seconds.

The director narrowed his eyes.

"Enhance the image."

The technician zoomed in.

The face became slightly clearer.

A young student.

Calm expression.

Dark hair.

The director studied the image carefully.

"Run facial recognition."

The system processed the image.

After a few seconds, a result appeared.

Name: Lin Tian

Age: 18

Occupation: Student

School: East City High School

The room became silent.

The director spoke slowly.

"A student was running toward the mountain at midnight?"

Another officer frowned.

"Maybe he was just jogging."

The technician shook his head.

"At that speed? It's impossible for a normal human."

Everyone stared at the screen.

The mystery was growing deeper.

The Secret Division

Later that afternoon, the director entered a restricted office on the top floor of the building.

This office belonged to a department very few people knew existed.

The Special Anomaly Division.

Inside the room, a tall man stood near the window.

He did not wear a uniform.

But his presence alone felt powerful.

The director handed him a report folder.

"We have a situation."

The tall man opened the folder and looked through the photos.

Claw marks.

Destroyed forest.

The strange energy readings.

And finally—

The image of Lin Tian captured by the camera.

The man studied the photo carefully.

Then he asked quietly, "You think the boy is involved?"

The director replied honestly.

"We don't know yet."

"But he ran toward the exact location of the incident."

The tall man nodded slowly.

"And the creature disappeared."

He closed the folder.

"This might not be a coincidence."

A Dangerous Possibility

The tall man walked toward a large digital map displayed on the wall.

Several glowing markers appeared across the country.

Each marker represented unexplained incidents from the past few years.

Strange energy readings.

Unusual disappearances.

Reports of unknown creatures.

Most had been dismissed as rumors.

But now…

The situation was changing.

The tall man spoke quietly.

"For decades, we suspected that Earth might not be alone in the universe."

He looked at the map again.

"If creatures from other dimensions are beginning to appear…"

His voice became serious.

"Then humanity must be prepared."

The director asked, "What about the boy?"

The tall man thought for a moment.

Then he gave a simple order.

"Observe him."

"Do not approach yet."

"We need more information."

Lin Tian Remains Unaware

Meanwhile, Lin Tian sat peacefully in his classroom at school.

The teacher was explaining a mathematics problem on the board.

Students were taking notes.

Everything looked completely normal.

No one would ever guess that just hours earlier, Lin Tian had fought and killed a monster capable of destroying entire groups of people.

He rested his chin on his hand, staring out the window.

The sky was clear.

The city looked calm.

But deep inside his mind, he could still sense faint disturbances in the world's energy.

Small ripples.

Tiny cracks in space.

The monster from last night might not have been the last.

Lin Tian sighed quietly.

"This world is changing faster than I expected."

But he did not know something important.

Far away in a government building…

Several powerful people were now watching him closely.

And the investigation into his identity had only just begun.
