Chapter 1 - chapter 1:

"Where is this?"

Long Cheng opened his eyes and looked at the space around him, glowing with multicolored lights, and couldn't help but ask.

Inside him were both panic and fear at being in an unfamiliar place, but also excitement at encountering something mysterious.

Just as he was about to call out again to see if anyone would answer, a sharp pain struck his brain, leaving him momentarily dazed. When he recovered, he found extra information in his mind—along with a panel.

The panel was naturally the standard "system" found in many web novels. The information was an introduction to it.

From what he learned, this was the system space. The system had basic intelligence, but unlike others, it didn't have a cute fairy assistant or independent consciousness.

That was actually good news for Long Cheng. He was just an ordinary homebody, somewhat soft-hearted, and hated scheming. If his system were manipulative, he might not even know how he died.

The system was called the "Infinite Fantasy System."

It had only two functions: Shop and Travel, but both were extremely powerful.

The shop contained everything from infinite time and space—cultivation methods, skills, bloodlines, weapons, and more. As long as you had points, you could buy anything.

Travel allowed passage across infinite dimensions: reality, anime, novels, films, games, and more.

As for why the system chose him or what its purpose was, it gave no explanation. Long Cheng didn't feel the need to press the issue. He was that kind of laid-back (lazy) person—when it's time to know, he'll know. For now, gaining enough strength was enough. He didn't believe such luck came without reason.

Looking at the "Real World" option in the travel menu, he fell silent.

But both shopping and traveling required points.

Points could be earned in many ways. The simplest was absorbing spiritual energy from the world—at the same speed as the host's own absorption. This feature could also be turned off. Energy-containing items could also be recycled for points.

Seeing this, Long Cheng smiled faintly—something he hadn't done in a long time.

He had once been just an ordinary student. He liked anime but wasn't obsessed. His family was fairly well-off. In middle school, he ranked within the top 20 of his grade and entered a key high school after the entrance exam.

His best friend, whom he had known since kindergarten, went to the same high school. Though they weren't in the same class, they still hung out—joking, gaming, walking home together. They lived in the same residential complex, less than 100 meters apart.

But all that happiness disappeared in his first year of high school.

His parents divorced. His father had another woman. His mother was heartbroken. For future housing compensation, she reluctantly let his father become his guardian and returned to her hometown alone.

Long Cheng changed.

He had never been good at socializing, but afterward he became even more silent. In high school, he barely talked to anyone. Only when visiting his mother or being with his best friend did he resemble his old self—joking, gaming, teasing each other.

His father treated him well, though not as attentively as his mother had. Long Cheng could feel his father's care.

But he couldn't forgive him.

He felt conflicted—grateful for raising him, yet resentful for betraying his mother. When he learned that the other woman had scammed most of his father's money and left him, Long Cheng felt a twisted satisfaction. His father had destroyed his own life.

Yet afterward, he only felt emptiness.

Looking again at the "Real World" option, he knew he would return someday—but not now.

Inside the system space, a shining gift box caught his eye.

The beginner's gift pack.

Without hesitation, he opened it.

"Ding! Congratulations, Host, on opening the Beginner's Gift Pack! You have received:

Random Character Card ×1

Random Character Summon Card ×1

Designated Weapon Card (God-tier) ×1

Item Upgrade Card ×1

Designated Cultivation Method Card (Mortal–Immortal) ×1

Douluo Dalu Plane Card ×1

1000 Points"

Information about the items flooded his mind.

Item Explanations

Random Character Card:

Grants everything of a randomly selected character across the multiverse—weapon, cultivation, bloodline, etc.—but not their power level. You also inherit certain weaknesses. For example, becoming a ghoul requires eating human flesh; becoming a vampire requires blood (unless a True Ancestor) and is weak to holy light.

Random Character Summon Card:

Summons a random person from across the multiverse. The summoned character depends on the host's current situation.

Designated Weapon Card (God-tier):

Choose a divine weapon.

System weapon ranks: Mortal, Spirit, God (Immortal), Super-God (Chaos), Order (Dao).

Designated Cultivation Card (Mortal–Immortal):

Choose a cultivation technique. If it exceeds Immortal tier, you only receive the Mortal-to-Immortal portion.

System realms: Mortal, Spirit, God (Immortal), Saint, Dao.

Item Upgrade Card:

Upgrades an item you own.

Plane Card:

Free travel to a designated plane. (Normally requires at least 10,000 points.)

After thinking briefly, Long Cheng made a decision.

"System, can the Item Upgrade Card upgrade you?"

"Ding! No. This system cannot be upgraded. However, new functions can be purchased with points."

He checked the shop.

System Chat Function — 100 million points

System Location Function — 100 million points

System Customization Function — 1 billion points

He understood now. The system wouldn't hand him invincible power. Even the Character Card only granted knowledge, talent, weapon, and cultivation—not instant mastery. Without personal understanding, he'd just become a copy.

"System, draw the Character Card."

"Ding! Congratulations, Host. You have obtained the Character Card: Issei Hyoudou."

A satisfied smile appeared on Long Cheng's face.

Character Card: Issei Hyoudou

PS from Author:

Douluo Dalu is mainly practice and low-profile plot at first. Please try to read until Chapter 83. The novel leans heavily toward High School DxD fan content.

The author chose Douluo Dalu as the first world because it's beginner-friendly, and the protagonist's martial spirit will be a Sacred Gear from High School DxD, as both systems share subtle similarities.

Randomly found this when I'm trying to find a douluo fanfic now I'm a fan of it's idea so let's see whether it's worthy of a praise or not
