Chapter 1 - Ch.1 – Rain

The siren was striking, breaking the waves of noise. Light shone blood and blue, gleaming a ray into the night. Heavy steps sounded as they gradually filled the area.

"Why did I end up here?" my languid voice, asked myself for my final time.

Then, the door banged and slammed hard. A group of people arrived at the door.

"Freeze!" An order from the point man, forcing mother and father to obey him.

Someone from the group rushed towards a puddle of crimson blood—my body. It sprawled down on the carpet. A knife pierced my chest. Blood was pouring down the floor. The nurse's eyes looked unsettled.

"Please, can you hold a bit longer?!" Her voice was panicking.

My mind thought a hope had arrived. But it was just another possibility. Eyes slowly shaded into a void, blurring the view. Metallic smells from fresh blood began to disintegrate.

The cold had reached my dead body. My consciousness was finally being released, exploring eternity. Hope was just a nonsense of something to rely on when we were about to succumb to nihilism.

The odd thing that happened later was reaching a point of absence. But it reflected. The fact that the light of a prism slowly emerged in the darkness removed the fear of the end. Opened a bigger opportunity.

Rays slowly hovered towards me. A sense of beginning. It grabbed my eternal soul and refined it into shattered glass dust. Became part of the void.

Then, a sound hit me. I could barely hear it. It was slowly continuing simultaneously. They began covering my surroundings. Another sense was also felt. It was wet. The first droplet became a mass shower hitting me. The smell was that of ordinary dirt, softened by the water.

At that moment, I thought of something unusual. Resurrection. Another chance for me? Or a miracle? I tried to open my other senses. Eyelids slowly opened. The sight was blurred at first. I rubbed my eyes and was able to see.

My body was sprawled down on an open field, looking at a falling shower of raindrops. The atmosphere was moody and silent. Mud formed on the dirt, and a puddle of water surrounded my body.

"Where am I?" I asked the rain.

But it responded with the rhythmic pattering, not an explanation. I gradually raise my body to sit. Something was off. I experienced a significant weight loss. Not bothering with it, I noticed my attire.

A natural fabric tunic and long leather pants. Like a medieval era fashion. They were covered in mud.

Curious who I was, I saw a bigger puddle of raindrops. I slowly crawled to it and saw a person. It reflected a young male with messy red mahogany hair.

What I could possibly think of was that he was me.

It felt extraordinary, until I noticed a watch on my chest. A mechanical watch. I grabbed it to take a closer look. There was a button and a crown on the right side of it. I used them, and they function normally as a hand watch does.

Not an interesting watch, but it could really help a lot. Scanned around. I seem to be stranded on a wide, flat landscape. Nor any structure or person appears nearby.

I ascended my little body. Luckily, there was a pathway stretching along the field. I started to follow the pathway.

As rain poured down, time ticking, I encountered a lantern slowly emerging from the fog. I stopped for a moment. I waited for the holder to show up. It was just to avoid an unwanted possibility.

The light began to shine more brightly. And a silhouette of a person showed up. He covered himself using a black umbrella. His grayish hair and the height of an adult man.

The man wore a formal black suit and seemed to be wearing a dark brown top hat. Victorian fashioned style.

He stopped. I thought that he noticed me from afar. He walked closer to me in a straight path, ignoring the curved pathway.

"Hello?" I shouted.

But he didn't reply. I tried to take a step backwards.

"Stop, don't move," he replied with a gravelly voice.

I was forced to stay still. As the man was approaching me, I glanced at his gaze. His eyes were looking at me with a blank stare. Colorless pupils.

"Excuse me?" I asked.

The second time, he didn't respond to it. His steps slowly fasten. I was stunned, unable to move. My body refused to sync with my mind. It didn't tremble. Instead, a calm expression drew over my face, and I didn't react to it.

He got really close to me. But suddenly, a rapid burst explodes the wave of sound.*BANG* It was loud.

Stared at the man, his neck was ripped in half. The head was detached from his body and fell off. Blood spurted out of the neck as the body slowly descended to the ground. Rain buried it.

This was a familiar scene that seemed to have happened to me recently. I forgot when it was. I couldn't remember.

"Why was there a child here?" A brave voice called out in the middle of heavy rain.

I turned my gaze to another person. The fashion wasn't far off from the corpse. He was tall. Wore a monocle. And carried a black umbrella.

With his left hand, he was holding an item. It seemed like a revolver if I guess so. He walked closer. And closer until he was standing in front of me. I looked up, making eye contact with him.

"Are you a lost child, or a Lozeroth?" He asked me with a sharp tone.

I stood still. I didn't feel frightened, but I couldn't answer. I didn't even know why I gained this consciousness.

"Can't answer?"

He pointed a gun at my forehead. I remained calm, expressionless. I couldn't react to his threat.

"Even a living thing will respond to the threat. Tell me, are you a mortal creature or a death corpse like them?" He started to lose patience.

I felt hostility in those eyes. I could die now if I didn't answer, and maybe truly leave this madness.

As his hand started to tremble, he lowered the offense.

"Hey brats, what's your name?" He was now asking with a gentle voice, yet still aware of me.

I started to realize who I really am. I walked far enough. I questioned this consciousness, but I never thought about that simple thing.

"I don't know," I replied with a raw child voice.

"..."

He hesitated a bit. Then, he gave me his umbrella.

"Pardon?" I was confused by his act.

"Take this, and follow the pathway. You'll eventually reach a town," He said with generosity.

I took the umbrella and the advice. The umbrella was a bit heavy, so I used both my hands to hold it.

"Thank you, mister," I said, grateful that someone helped me in this vagueness.

"Shall we meet in another rain," he walked off into the mist and never told his name.

Afterwards, I continued to follow the pathway using the cover of the rain. It was a fortunate encounter.

I was thinking what could possibly happen to me when he chooses to pull the trigger. Maybe death was waiting for me. Or I will be recalled back to start. I was glad it didn't happen.

After a while, the rain stopped. The mist began to fade away and the moonlight spread across the land. From afar, I saw a building. The pathway was slowly becoming paved.

Perhaps, this was the town that he mentioned.
