Nina Donovan, of course, knew that Jasper Sherwood was just saying that to comfort her. She lowered her gaze, still saddened, her voice filled with melancholy. "I dreamed my grandma was smiling and waving at me. She wanted me to be happy, and then she disappeared. I couldn't hold onto her, no matter how I tried. I've always wanted to ask why she's never visited my dreams all these years to see me... and then today, of all days, I finally dreamed of her..."
As Nina finished speaking, she felt a weight settle on her shoulder. She froze for a moment.
Jasper Sherwood was leaning on her shoulder, his eyes shut tight.
Nina's breath hitched. Only when she felt the warmth of his breath did the heart that had leaped into her throat finally settle.
For a split second, she'd actually thought Jasper was dead.
Thankfully, she was mistaken.
He had just fallen asleep.
