Nina Donovan turned her head. The terror in Jasper Sherwood's dark eyes didn't seem faked.
Her lips parted, moving slightly, but she ultimately said nothing.
She recalled the car accident that had killed her in this world.
It was an intersection just like this one where a large truck had hit her and sent her flying.
Nina Donovan hadn't realized the incident had left such a deep scar on Jasper Sherwood, making him terrified of even crossing the street.
Nina Donovan gently patted his hand. "I was wrong. I won't be so reckless next time. Please don't be angry."
Jasper Sherwood kept his lips pressed together, remaining silent.
Nina Donovan looked at him, amused, and deliberately teased him. "Are you that afraid of me dying?"
Jasper Sherwood lowered his head, his voice muffled. "Yeah. Terrified."
A smile crinkled the corners of Nina Donovan's eyes. "Jasper Sherwood, I'm not going to die. That's all in the past. I'm right here, alive and well, aren't I?"
