Chapter 4 - Chapter- 4

Was this the reason, even being a normal human, he could kill 31 students? All he had done was to wave his hands, trying to protect himself during the fight, yet one after another, everyone fell, some clutching their throats, some holding their chest, trying to stop the blood that was leaking from their necks and hearts.

It was a slaughter, and he had no idea how he was doing all that. He just instinctively knew where to hit to kill everyone, or, more likely to protect himself, hurt others so that they won't rise back to hurt him again.

And like dolls, they fell to never rise, but now everything was clear. Everyone was right. He was born a killer, just never realized his true self.

But this world slapped him in the face and threw the fact as if stating the obvious, telling him what to do next.

As he saw strength, agility, and endurance stats blurring and the plus signs disappearing to show the real value.

Strength: 12.8

Agility: 14.4

Endurance: 16.2

Rubbing his face with his palms to remove his tears, Mark sniffed silently, as he pulled the map out, which showed the location of everyone, and became startled when he saw a red dot just in front of him.

Pulling his gun out silently, cautiously, he looked everywhere, as he even stopped his breathing, but found no one.

Not caring, he closed his eyes and listened intently. The wind gently shook the trees, the leaves rustled on the ground, the chirping of the birds rang everywhere, and on the tree, Mark sat listening to everything.

CRUNCH!

As a gentle yet loud enough for Mark to hear, a different sound from the atmospheric bliss rang, making him tilt his gun towards his left at a 220-degree angle as one after another he fired three shots.

"How.... *Cough*" The voice rang, making Mark open his eyes and see a man holding a slingshot in his hand, who now held his chest, as with a thud, the man fell.

Jumping from the tree, taking the help of the branches, Mark went towards the man, picked up the slingshot, and ran in a different direction, as he saw close to twenty red dots approaching him.

He fired a gun, but instead of running away, these people were rushing towards him; it simply meant they had guns too, or maybe even more threatening weapons too.

Staring at the dots, keeping note of them, Mark ran towards the lake that was running between the island, splitting it in two.

He was thirsty and hungry. He couldn't eat anything in such an environment, but he surely could drink as much water as he wanted.

But before he could rush out of the forest, he heard a loud woosh from below, making his eyes widen, and he jumped to roll down on the ground in surprise.

As he saw more than ten tree roots coming to strike him in succession, making him backflip again and again to protect himself.

He had no idea how he was able to backflip, but somehow he just knew that if he did that, he would successfully be able to dodge.

And he did dodge, as in midair he raised his gun and fired five times. Weaving in between all the roots, the bullets hit the tree whose roots were making this ruckus, as Mark saw green blood splattering wherever the bullets hit.

While falling to the ground with his back towards it, Mark grunted in pain because of the bow that nearly made him scream in pain, as he hurriedly raised his gun and became shocked to see the tree with an angry face.

Real face, just like humans, but it looked old and ugly, as more than thirty roots rushed towards him, making Mark coldly raise his gun and target the tree's eyes.

As without caring about the rushing roots, he shot four more times, but this time targeted the eyes, as one after another, the bullets hit their targets, making the tree screech in agony.

At a speed of the naked eye, Mark saw the tree getting engulfed by the red flame, burning to the crisp.

While a gentle green glow came out of the flame and disappeared just like the chunks of human meat, which had previously disappeared.

"Tch." Mark clicked his tongue. He wasted nine bullets, just to get a single freaking stat.

Even though it was vitality stat, which could save his life in important moments, he still wasn't satisfied.

He wasted nine bullets to kill this tree-looking monster, while he fired three bullets at the man before.

He still remembered that he had fired 24 bullets when killing Carl and the other parents at the district court.

While the magazine capacity was 50 rounds, that means he now only had 15 rounds left, which were nowhere near enough against all the people who were rushing towards him.

Again, he stood up to run, but this time, carefully, he let his senses and instinct lead him, cuz he realized what others didn't.

They weren't alone on this island; their existed other races here too. Maybe not other races, but those monsters who always existed on this island, whose home they had invaded.

As putting his gun back on his waist while running, Mark pulled both of the knives out, cuz they could do the same work as the gun if used properly.

Suddenly, he threw the knife towards his right with a jerk, hitting the tree, which looked innocent from top to bottom.

But with a screech, he saw not the face of the tree, but a brown color snake which had camouflaged itself such that it could barely be seen.

As with his second knife, he severed the snake's head completely, making it flail around in agony as the red flame engulfed it.

As feeling the warm energy that ran everywhere inside of him, Mark finally reached his target, the lake.
