Chapter 1 - THE TEARY EYES

A continuous phone call was made to Sumit by Asimesh, saying, "Then please buy some roti and curry for me, brother Sumit. My Indigo flight will land in Bengaluru around 8 p.m." After the words were spoken, the call was disconnected by Asimesh. From the other side, it was replied by Sumit, "Okay brother, it will be bought."

A Master's degree in Biotechnology was completed together by Sumit and Asimesh from Brindavan College in Bupsandra, Bengaluru. Afterwards, a job as a medical representative was secured by Sumit at GlaxoSmithKline after persistent effort. However, for one and a half years, interviews were attended continuously by Asimesh, yet no job could be obtained. Being frustrated, a return to his home state of West Bengal was made by him. In fact, he had been called back by his father.

But after about a year, another attempt at trying his luck in Bengaluru was encouraged by his father, and he was sent back. The year was 2008–09. During the intervening one and a half years, the room had been managed alone by Sumit.

After landing at Kempegowda International Airport in Devanahalli, a Meru cab was quickly booked and a journey toward Nagashettihalli was started by Asimesh. After traveling for about one and a quarter hours, the car was stopped in front of the small two-room rented house. The fare was paid by him, and as he was about to enter, a new Honda Activa scooter was seen parked in front of the door. It was immediately understood by him that it had recently been bought by Sumit.

After so many days, a face-to-face meeting with his roommate was about to be had by Asimesh. The house was entered by him. It was seen that work from the office was being done on a laptop by Sumit while he was half-lying on a mattress spread on the floor. On being seen, a warm welcome was given to Asimesh by Sumit: "Oh, Asimesh! After so long, both your roommate and Bengaluru have been remembered!"

A slight hesitation was felt by Asimesh.

Bengaluru is called the cradle of the IT industry in India and the "Silicon Valley," and people are not made to sleep early here. After a long time, many conversations were held between the two roommates upon being reunited. It was informed to Asimesh by Sumit, "You know, a new development has been made in the meantime."
