The rooftops were a different world. From above, Jiang Yuan could see the true scale of the apocalypse. The city was a patchwork of fire and ruin, with plumes of smoke rising from a dozen different points. He could see the next beacon, a red light on top of a distant office tower.
He moved quickly, leaping from building to building, his new Wall Climb ability helping him scale the gaps. The creatures below were blind to his presence, and he could avoid the worst of the threats.

A massive, bat-like creature swooped down from the clouds, its wings blotting out the sun. Its talons were as sharp as blades, its eyes glowing red.
Jiang Yuan ducked, the creature's talons scraping past his head. He drew his crowbar, waiting for the next pass.

Jiang Yuan tensed, then swung the crowbar with all his strength as the creature passed. The blade bit into the creature's wing, and it screeched, spiraling out of control and crashing into a building below.
