Chapter 1

001 Control Devil Descends Here

She had orange-pink medium-length hair, with a braid at the back and two strands of hair falling from her temples.

With a delicate face and handsome features, at first glance, she seemed like a gentle and benevolent person.

But those unusual ringed eyes emitted a captivating golden light, a faint glance, as if a deity was looking down upon the firmament.

"..."

She touched the mirror, and the person inside made the same motion, then sighed similarly.

There was no mistake... she seemed to have become Miss Makima.

But she wasn't Miss Makima.

After all, Makima was just a character from a fictional work, and she should have been an ordinary person from a higher dimension.

Yet now, she had become Miss Makima.

Alas... Miss Makima sighed—thinking of the future, she was incredibly worried about her own end—she didn't want to become ginger pork... However, for some reason, she accepted the fact of her transmigration very calmly—her former self would never have been so calm in such a situation.

Makima felt that perhaps she could try to salvage things before she became a delicious meal.

The person in the mirror didn't look that mature; instead, she carried a hint of youthful innocence, appearing to be at most sixteen or seventeen.

So... she shouldn't have become a direct Devil Hunter under the Japanese Cabinet Secretariat yet?

Makima searched the room she was in and found it to be a typical apartment residence.

She noticed a calendar on the wall of the room—1996.

It was before the millennium... no wonder some of the equipment looked so nostalgic.

After a careful search, Miss Makima found that she seemed to be a proper person—she didn't find items like diaries.

But while searching the wardrobe, Makima found a classic JK school uniform.

And in a school bag, she found many textbooks.

Miss Makima... was actually a JK?

This... well.

It wasn't impossible; after all, Miss Makima's past had always been a mystery.

But had she truly become the Miss Makima from her memories?

Or was she just an ordinary person who looked like Miss Makima?

Makima felt her body and found that it seemed no different from her previous self; in fact, being female, her strength was even a bit weaker.

Did she really possess the power of the Control Devil?

Just then, the landline in the room rang. Makima hesitated for two seconds but still didn't answer. After ringing for a while, the caller left her a message:

"Hello, is this Makima? I'm your cousin, Kobayashi..."

Huh?

Miss Makima... actually had relatives?

Shouldn't she be an... uh... orphan?

And... Kobayashi?

Had she heard that name somewhere before?

"I just heard about your aunt and uncle... I'm also studying at university in Tokyo right now, so if you encounter any difficulties, you can tell me, after all... um... I mean... you... actually, if you have time, you can come find me..."

This cousin never mentioned Miss Makima's parents.

Combining the tone and context of her words... Makima was certain that the transmigrator orphanage had just added another strong member.

"Anyway, if you run into any problems, be sure to call me, or you can come find me, I'm currently living at..."

After listening to her cousin's message, Makima began to organize the information she had.

First—she lived alone.

Her parents were suspected to have met the same fate as Batman's parents—they died.

She currently had a cousin who seemed to care about her.

And she seemed to have just moved from the countryside.

And—this was Tokyo, Japan.

After understanding the general situation, Makima thought for a moment, turned on the TV, and started watching the news, wanting to find out if this world was normal.

For example—were there any things like the Gun Devil.

But from noon until the afternoon, Makima didn't find any unusual, out-of-the-ordinary news.

She watched until it was almost evening, and just as she felt a bit hungry and was about to get something to eat... at that moment, a sudden news flash made Makima's brain crash:

"Latest news from this station! Just now—the savior of the Japanese police, high school detective Shinichi Kudo, has once again solved a murder case!"

"...!?"

The screen cut to a frontline reporter; a young man who looked like a high school student was proudly accepting interviews from a large group of reporters.

Around him were police officers with cordon tape and a large crowd of onlookers. Many fanatical girls were shouting something at him, turning a crime scene into a fan meeting.

Roller... washing machine!?

Miss Makima watched for a few minutes, taking a while to compose herself before turning off the TV.

After taking a few deep breaths, she finally regained her composure.

Very good.

Whether there was a Gun Devil or not, there would definitely be a Shinigami Elementary School Student in the future.

This world... she felt it wasn't quite normal.

Makima had previously found some identification documents, bank cards, and some cash in the room—not much, but enough for a while.

She rummaged through the wardrobe, changed into a white shirt and black trousers, and was about to go out for a walk and dinner when the doorbell rang.

Makima froze, casually tucked a fruit knife behind her waist, and lightly stepped to the door.

She cautiously looked through the peephole and saw a beautiful girl outside, with no one else around. Only then did she cautiously open the door and tilted her head:

"...Hello?"

The girl outside had beautiful black long hair, wearing a JK uniform exactly like the one in her room, and was looking at her a little timidly.

"Uh... that... hello, Makima-san..."

"...Something wrong?"

"...Yes."

"What is it?"

"...Um... it's like this..."

The other person's facial expression management was clearly not very good; the corner of her mouth twitched slightly.

"...Because my house is on the way to Makima-san's, and you didn't come to school today... so, um... the teacher... asked me to come check on you..."

Makima felt a sense of déjà vu from the other person and couldn't help but ask:

"...May I ask your name?"

"Ah, I'm Kagome Higurashi!"

The girl touched her head, a little embarrassed.

"Yesterday, I didn't get a chance to introduce myself to Makima-san. Normally, you can just call me Kagome."

"..."

Kagome Higurashi blinked, watching Makima-san's expression change several times.

"...Wh-what's wrong, Makima-san?"

"..."

Makima took a few more deep breaths, calmed herself, and smiled at Kagome:

"Nothing, I just feel... Kagome-san would be very suitable for raising a dog. Perhaps we can exchange experiences in that area in the future..."

"...Eh?"

002 Multiple Worldviews

Makima invited Kagome Higurashi into her home to sit for a while.

From her, Makima learned that yesterday was her first day of transfer to Tokyo and reporting to her new school.

It seemed the teacher also understood her situation, so when she didn't come to class the next day, the teacher entrusted Kagome Higurashi, whose home was nearby, to visit her.

And Kagome was indeed the Kagome Higurashi from her memories; her family ran an ancient shrine.

So, was the Shinigami Elementary School Student's world... in the same worldview as Inuyasha?

Then how did she, the Control Devil, get mixed into this world?

Miss Makima now had too many questions.

She chatted distractedly with Kagome for a few sentences, said she would go to school tomorrow, and then politely saw off Kagome Higurashi. Afterward, she collapsed on the sofa, pondering lostly about how to live her future life.
