Lina still had not calmed down.
How had she managed to get so carried away that she had left the sensible part of her mind behind and actually asked Alexander to stay in her apartment for the night? Worse, she had accepted his invitation to sleep in her bed, only for the situation to somehow become even more complicated when she had quietly called him her boyfriend.
Lina let out a small, almost inaudible sigh.
She was still wide awake.
The room was dark except for the faint light spilling through the curtains from the city outside. Westhaven had quietened considerably by this hour, the distant traffic reduced to a soft murmur beneath the glass.
Beside her, Alexander shifted.
"Can't you sleep?"
His voice was deep and warm in the darkness, carrying that same calm, slightly husky quality that always seemed to make Lina more aware of him than she wanted to be. There was something almost unfair about how different his voice sounded when they were alone like this.
