Dixon looked extremely guilty.
He had invited Lina over to spend the afternoon together, had promised they would cook, and now he was leaving her alone in his uncle's house because of a last-minute work commitment.
Lina could see the guilt written all over his face and immediately reassured him.
"Everyone has unexpected things come up sometimes. You don't need to worry about it so much."
Dixon still looked reluctant to leave.
When he noticed that neither Sophie nor Lina's new assistant was there, he quickly said, "Then I'll leave my assistant here to take you home."
"There really is no need," Lina said. "I can drive myself. It's not far from here, so don't worry about me. Just go and deal with your work."
Dixon's assistant arrived shortly afterwards and took over from him.
Before leaving, Dixon reminded Lina twice that she should call if she needed anything.
Lina assured him she would.
