"Why did you help me?"
Lina's question came quietly, but there was no mistaking the curiosity behind it.
She looked at Alexander Sterling across the private room, trying to understand the man who had first pulled her into this place without warning and then offered her a contract with Sterling Entertainment as though the entire encounter had been carefully arranged.
Alexander leaned back against the sofa, his expression calm.
"I was protecting my own interests."
Lina raised an eyebrow.
Alexander glanced at her before continuing. "The actor they were considering for that role was terrible. If his performance ruined the production, I would lose more than the cost of replacing him. I invested too much money into the project to sit back and watch it fail because someone made a poor casting decision."
Lina stared at him for a moment.
"So everything comes down to profit for you?"
Alexander did not deny it.
"In my world, most things do."
