After confirming that everyone had left, Lina glanced at the soldiers stationed in the corridor before closing the church door and locking it from the inside. She stood still for a moment, listening for any unusual sounds, then turned to inspect the interior once more. There was hardly anywhere for someone to hide in the church, but given her recent experiences, she wasn't willing to rely on appearances alone. She even walked behind the altar and pulled aside the curtain hanging behind the religious icon, checking carefully to ensure nobody was lurking there.
Only after completing another thorough inspection did she finally relax a little. Unless an assassin could walk through walls or turn invisible, this place should be safe enough for the time being.
