In front of me is the outer part of the city whose path leads towards the hills, which is where the "Source of Knowledge" is located. But reaching there, wasn't easy as my path was blocked by a group of giant insects who were giving a piercing gaze on me.
A greenhopper, has the same appearance as a grasshopper, but the same appearance as the actual grasshopper, the difference is it has twelve legs, six wings, and can shoot needles from its mouth and it is almost the same size as the Mazard.
My opinion about him is that they're an annoying bunch who're moving in groups.
And now, they're in front of me… Exactly 14 of them…
"Ah… Here we go again…"
Thankfully I was fully prepared. The stuff I've prepared for this scenario is the Sunworm's torch, which is heavy and useless. Mazard's skin shield. The best thing I've made. Two remaining chair legs and also the rusty knife.
Sadly yeah, but they're enough for me to kill all of 14 Greenhopper, but I'm definitely not gonna do that, waste of energy they say.
But again, fate doesn't pick a side, especially in my favor as one of the greenhoppers shoots its needle. But I blocked it with the Mazard Shield I created. But it's not the end yet,
*FEW! FEW! FEW!*
As the sound of bullets-like echoed in my ears, the greenhoppers made a formation and shot their needles in multiple directions as a strategy to take me down from my unprotected side. But my days of experience anticipated their movements as I angle myself as I back off from the army of greenhoppers.
After a few minutes, a shield has blocked a barrage of needles, leaving it sticking on the other side of the shield. My arm feel tired and grazed after blocking those needles. But am I the person who felt despair from my arm being grazed? Good joke.
*SPLAT!*
I leaned forward as I jumped and stomped on one of them, its green and slimy blood sticking to my pants and shoes, which I felt grossed every time I'd done it. I lifted my legs as I let the green blood drip off… And I provoke its friends…
"Is this the only thing you all can do?"
*SHRIEK!!!*
The army of greenhoppers shriek as the sign of their cry, then using its six wings, they all lunge into the air as they fly towards me.
…
"That's all of them…" I exhale as I pull the chair leg from the greenhopper's head. And to my surroundings… Is filled with nothing but the rest of its friends remain.
14 isn't a small number, my plan is to kill them 1 by 1 as I keep my distance and charge when 1 of them gets close to me. And by exploiting their strength using the needle that was sticking to my shield against them. I used it to parry and pierce them with the needle the moment their guard was down. It takes a while, but it's better than dying and losing everything just to get it back.
Greenhopper's needle is highly poisoned and contaminated; its density is so potent that the poison spreads on me when I touch it with the tip of my finger. Thankfully, this shield is so durable that It can't pierce it to the other side where my arm is holding the shield.
Thus, I decided to keep it stuck to my shield, but as I was about to make a step forward, I gave a last glance at the greenhopper's remains. I chuckled, as I lightly kicked its head.
"Fuh, reminds me of when you guys lifted me upwards and ripped my limbs apart in the air. To be honest it was a fun experience. I wished I could fly like you guys too, making my life easier when all I could do was walk. I'm not getting anywhere… "
…
I climbed my path towards the hills, and I was met with the Cicicirikada. Almost the same as a cicada, but it has two heads top to bottom. Not to mention it giant sized bigger than me, sticking to the tree. And its ability is…
*CICICICICICICICICICICICIC….*
"Fuck that's loud!"
The Cicicirikada shriek is too loud, he's rupturing my ears and almost getting my head blown off from the inside, not for the second time though.
*STAB!*
I killed it as fast as I could and discovered something valuable when I autopsied it.
…
Beetlepup, in other words, stinkbug. Bigger than its original size which is half the size of me. Releasing its hormones which could kill anything from a single whiff- I don't know if it killed other entities, but the gas released from it could've withered the plants that got caught inside of it.
Mine is not exceptional. The first time I met him, he killed me by using his foul smell, which I then discovered the gas also affected anything that came in contact with it, when I died the second time.
*STAB!*
Thus, I honed my throwing skills, which are useful for a time like this. I throw the chair leg toward the beetlepup, and the chair leg hits without a doubt.
But I left the moment the chair leg pierced its body, since I could not bother myself to wait for beetlepup to bleed to its death.
…
After a long walk, avoiding all other annoying insect-type entities… I have finally arrived at the "Source of Knowledge." Yet I have arrived at this place, I've decided to throw a tantrum as I throw away all the stuff I collected to the ground.
"Fuck… Why the hell are they building the Library right at the edge of the cliff?!!"
That's right, the "Source of Knowledge", is none other than the library… This place contains an infinite amount of knowledge recorded from all over the world. I accidentally stumble upon this place when I explored the city. But first of all, before I go inside this place, there are a few things I need to say…
I couldn't understand shit of the language in this place, so I spent some time to learn it. From the alphabet, until I have a grasp of its meaning.
And there's one other thing, there's an unwritten rule referring to this place. The first-timer here wouldn't last a minute- no, even a second if they didn't understand about it.
Rule number 1: absolutely not to make any noise… Or the consequences will be painful.
I throw all my stuff aside, they're nothing but a bother in this what I call a sacred place. There's nothing to worry about if there's a thief here, what I'm saying is it's not like there's anything intelligent that could have any interest in my stuff. Oops, I said that too early; there's another intelligence being aside from me.
I exhaled my breath as I opened a door.
A shelf filled with books, another shelf filled with books. Book, book, book everywhere. Other than that, I hate to say this but this is the cleanest place in this city. I take a deep breath, smelling the smell of old books lingering in this closed space.
(Ah… This place has the best smell ever come to be. Can't even compare to the city…)
I started to enter with one silent step. Two silent steps, three silent steps.
(Looks like I'm good…)
As the thought lingered in my mind, I cast a glance to my side.
The opened book, is currently read by someone who's sitting beyond the table. The sharp black fingers cover the book's cover. And the title of that book is written as "Unfortunate Princess in The Hell".
I've yet to read that book, but judging by its title, it's probably gonna be a similar story to mine.
As I was about to take another step, I could feel the presence behind me from the front door. I slowly looked to my back, and saw the greenhopper flapping its wings.
(Shit! Did I miss one of them?!)
Upon our eyes meeting, the greenhopper charged towards me at great speed.
(Shit! If I move spontaneously, I'll break the rule!)
At that time, I couldn't decide whether to act or not. I close my eyes thinking it was the time for death to part me from this day… Or not…
All I felt was the wet sensation as if I'd been splashed by the cup of water. Except it was the green blood. As I slowly open my eyes, all I see is the sight of the greenhopper whose life has been taken right before my eyes.
He was pierced by the sharp and long object coming from my side. That led me to know who the culprit was…
The Librarian…
