Chapter 1 - Creation 1

A lone soul floated in the void, unaware and unwakened to where he was or what was happening. True death is sometimes seen as having no memories of yourself to pass on, and perhaps that rings true for our soul here.

Lines of glowing light began to penetrate the void between worlds and the soul was their target. These lines converged onto the soul and began to brand it, while the soul was seemingly leaking something. In a form akin to old film, a cinematic record, was beginning to flee from the orb of energy and then returning to nothingness. Never to be retrieved, even for a god such as he was about to be.

A throne began to manifest in the void, a shining brilliance banishing the dark as the soul began to glow a brilliant gold as a new form, a new body manifested. Cloaked in robes of imperial majesty adorning his form. His breath was pure aether, and his blood golden. He was truly a god.

My eyes opened to the void, a brilliant shine around my form. I could see into the eternal depths, outside the boundaries of time and space, and I could see a world before me, its nature chaotic. "Who am I?" I asked myself, no memories present within me, my cinematic record wiped clean from the depths of my soul, replaced with a brilliant power within.

A god of creation, that's what I was. An ultimate being that was above everything. Yet, he was clueless to the world around him, even as he held knowledge of some things within.

My gaze turned towards the world before me, its nature intriguing. It was a feeling I new I experienced before, yet it felt new and fresh to me. I gazed at it a little longer before I made my decision solid in my mind. I rose from my throne, it disappearing inside my soul. I stepped towards the world, and I felt the barrier surrounding it. It was thick, but I could go through easily if I wish. I pushed a little and It gave way as I felt more form slipping through, the location of my appearance unknown.

'A village' I thought as I saw the houses before me. The air seemed energetic with something magical in the air. I moved my hand as the molecules, magicules as I would learn, began to buzz in the air and they seemed excited in my presence. However, something happened to interrupt this experiment.

"Halt!" screamed a burly man who was rushing towards me with many like him in tow. Thick horns protruded from their heads and dressed in a form of armor. The one with red hair seemed to be in charge. "State your business!" he said with an authoritative voice. I turned my head to the side, confusion blooming on my face.

"Im sorry, I just appeared here" I said honestly, having no reason to lie to the man. His face seemed to say he didn't believe me. "Just appeared, huh. I find that farfetched with an aura such as that. What would a being as strong as you just, appear here?" his voice was still authoritative, but it didn't have much of a bite to it as it did as first.

"Believe me sir, I have no reason to lie to you. I just appeared here" I raised my hands as some of them tensed, with some in more different clothing ready with a hand sign. The man in charge looked at me for a moment longer, trying to discern a lie before he sheathed his blade though he still seemed ready to draw upon it.

"My apologies, I sense no lie in your words so forgive me. I am the chief of this village of ogres. If you wouldn't mind following me?" he asked. He gestured to dismiss all but two as he began to walk and I followed. One of the, ogres I think he said, was old and wise. He had white clothing adoring his frame, and the younger red head one was dressed similar to the father in armor.

It didn't take long for us to reach the chiefs house in question. It was quite nice, though not too far above the others, just enough to know that someone important lived here. He gestured inside and the two warriors went a head and the leader and I followed.

'I wonder if that was for the guards to get into position?' I thought to myself as we were now arriving in a meeting room. The two warriors were in position and two others were in the room as well. Another ogre with pink colored hair. She was mature, matching the chiefs age so it was most likely his wife. The other was a younger female ogre with pink hair and her dress seemed very ceremonial in nature.

"Thank you for cooperating. I am the chief, this is my wife" he gestured towards the mature pink one. "My daughter" he gestured towards the younger female. "the two warriors standing guard is my son and the teacher of the guard" he gestured to the younger male and the older one.

"Thank you for not immediately attacking me" I said as I bowed my head in thanks. "No, no sir. Please raise your head, a being as strong as you shouldn't bow to those weaker" the older read head said frantically. I was confused on why it was a problem but I pushed the thought aside.

"But back to what we were talking about before, you said you just appeared right? Do you happen to have anywhere to stay?" he asked me, seemingly out of kindness. "No I do not" I said as he seemed to be thinking. 'Does he want to make use of my power? It would be a wise strategy I suppose' I thought as I tried to come up with reasons to why they would even be kind to me. Perhaps it was my strength, but I pushed it aside as I thought of something.

"Do you guys have names? I haven't seen you guys use any" I asked them as they looked at me surprised. "Monsters don't have names, that's common knowledge" the younger female said to me. "Really, but its so inconvenient to call you guys without them" I said. "We don't need names" said the older female, "We have gotten bye without them."

"I know. You guys talk about them as if their something profound to have" I said and their eyes widened, most likely questioning 'How much does he not know?'

"Being granted a name grants a being power at the expense of the names, forging an intimate bond between the named and the namer" said the younger female. It was something new to learn, something that seemed to be intertwined with the logic of the world. 'It most likely takes the energy within them, most likely the same energy in the air to name them.'

"How about I give you guys name?" I said to them as their eyes widened. "Are you sure? I mean we were going to give you lodging, but something like that requires something more to give, a decision that takes time to think over!" Yelled the chief frantically. He seemed equal parts excited yet fearful he might not have enough to give in return for something so important.

"What would a name be worth?" I asked them, and it caused them to go silent and think. "We could offer servitude" said the white haired man, whose voice also seemed to indicate his advance age. "He is strong enough for us to follow, and we don't know what might happen if we refuse right?" finished the wise ogre.

I looked at him in confusion. "I don't plan on doing anything if you refuse, I have no need to. If it was needed, I could just conjure my own place to sleep" I said outloud. The wise ogre looked at me, knowing I was talking to him even if everybody heard the message. "Really? You plan on just leaving it there?" he said, as if that seemed strange to him. I suppose that many might take it personally if they were refused.

I nodded yes to him and the other ogres were also shocked as well. They seemed deep in thought about the situation, and my power dwarfed everyone in the village, even if I was restraining it. I had no idea what would happen if I just released it in full on this world.

"We need some time to think about this matter, daughter please show him to a free room" he ordered the young girl as she rose from her cushion on the ground and led me to a sizeable room to use for my stay. "Thank you" I said to her as she nodded and left to go to her family.

'I guess this counts as an interesting event for my new adventure' I thought as I decided to plop on my bed, even if I didn't need to sleep.
